Almost the entire park to use for her dogs and this (German accent?) woman at 9am for Park Run point blank refused to remove them, stating she has poo bags.

Very identifiable pink beanie, Alsatian and Spaniel.

Told me I must be menopausal to care so much.

Sitting right in front of the NO DOGS sign.

This is not unusual.   The entire park is full of dogs off the lead   so when people try to be responsible dog owners and exercise their dogs on the lead it is totally impossible.  As the other dogs constantly run up to, bark and irritate the dogs on the leads and stupid owners don't do anything to prevent them.  I thought people who live in Dulwich might have been able to read, understand and follow simple signs with words and pictorial instructions.  But they obviously can not.   The rules are there for a reason but obviously do not apply to when it suits people.

I wonder would people be able to understand any warning signs about 🐺🐺🐺

The people with free running dogs are always the first to complain when a dog on a lead barks back at their precious dog.  Especially when the dog on the lead is a large dog.  The poor dog  was literally minding their own business walking along whilst the other dogs take turns to ambush them.   So the wolves could be a brilliant idea.   As these dogs could jump into ambush the wolves.  And then well behaved dogs on a leash and responsible dog ( or those who can understand text and pictorial information) owners could walk along in peace.   And also enjoy the local public parks.

Surely the No Dogs sign should be very very large at the entrance?

It's a bit pointless having it once you've taken the dog/s in there?

You should not be taking dogs in there. Same as not taking them across the bridge - now closed - as they can scare whatever little widlife is trying to survive in the park. The 'no dog' signs are there and visible and the area has closed gates. Not all people like dogs, many have bad experience and are scared of them. 'My dog can do no wrong' attitude is rather tiring

LOL up the  Victor Meldrew /.  Some of us ain't that old yet.  But would really like to enjoy our daily constitutionals without other people's unleashed unruly animals spoiling our right to be responsible citizens who abide by the blinking signs.   It really does spoil things for others.   And shows no consideration for others.

I just think some owners are a bit dippy, they aren't aware that dogs cause a lot of issues for wildlife. Ground nest birds will abandon their young, foxes and badgers will abandon their dens, rats and mice will relocate into people's gardens and houses, squirrels and birds typically avoid dog heavy areas too.

There are a lot of parks in the area that allow for unleashed dogs, so it really makes no sense to ruin the lives of other animals because the owner simply cannot be arsed.

Ah I was thinking of the shrubbery area near the Huf houses ! No if you mean the fenced off area near the cafe then 🙄 that’s just totally unreasonable.

You're being very magnanimous, and I was too, politely explaining it's a fenced off area for the squirrels and children. Instead of apologising and taking the dogs out, she told me she wouldn't move, and started insulting me.

The story ended when I opened the gate and let her dogs out. They didn't even want to be in there anyway.

Brilliant way to deal with a ignorant individual.   LOL.  The sign is quite simple a 3 year old could understand it.  The fact is she shouldn't have been in there in the first place.   I have dogs and live them dearly. Not everyone likes dogs.  I don't like everyone else's dogs running around me and off the lead barking and running at my dogs who are on their lead.

The sign is low enough for dogs to read it too!

Had to google that reference as not old enough to get it.

I don’t find any particular humour in people thinking they (and their dogs) are above the rules.

But I also understand that plenty of people are also deeply afraid of calling out any antisocial behaviour.

    • @Jenijenjen I assure you we are always polite and friendly too! Which is why the behaviour we have been receiving is so frustrating. The kids always leave her with a “Thank you have a lovely day”  Our concern is leaving the gate slightly wedged doesn’t stop the action of slamming it open and closed…still leading to damage
    • If you're talking about who I think you are, I find them more exuberant than rude and usually smiling and polite. But then, I'm usually smiling and polite to them. Can you not wedge open your gate when you're expecting them?
    • It worked. Corbyn did similar although not to the same degree. Momentum had a purge too when Corbyn got in. All his political life he opposed the EU but when it came to the crunch he publicly backed them during the referendum. I believe that was to appease the middle classes that he was appealing to. He messed up big time when wooing the middle classes at Glastonbury whilst ignoring his core working class voters up north. They also happened to be leave voters. He got starstruck and forgot about his politics. Corbynmania was thing, a movement but it was also the making of his downfall. For the many and not the few came back and slapped him right in the face.
    • Nothing to do with the tories overspending whatsoever eh! Blame the last 10/11 years of blatant mismanagement, incompetence and willful deceit on the poor bastards that were left with the fall out of a complete car crash tory government.   One PM after another falling on their sword. Open corruption and piss taking throughout covid and a legacy of huge debt and destruction yet in your view it will be labour's 4 years in power that bankrupts us in 2029.  Another one that must think people are blind and stupid.  Rejoice rejoice. It's a pity he and his fellow clowns were completely annihilated at the ballot box. I mean they were doing so well after all 🙃🙃
