I don't understand this. Why is SE22 inadequate and what's wrong with it's look or feel? Feel???

You called SE22 "an ad mag".

I think that is an unfair description. It contains a lot of useful information, including about upcoming events, new shops and businesses, and photos of past local events, plus articles by local people.

To say "its look and feel is inadequate at best" depends entirely on what you feel is "adequate", which is a matter of personal opinion (though I agree the layout could be improved in places).

To imply (as you do in your subject header) that it is not "credible" just because you want a magazine with a different focus and contents is unfair.

My reference to the Goose Green Fair was because Angela Burgess, who edits the magagazine, lives locally and contributes a lot to the local community. She does not just sit and haul in ads to put in SE22.

Why are you going on about what great things Angela Burgess does in the local community? I've got no issue with that, I'm saying SE22 mag is pap!. It's structure and layout is rubbish and the photography is laughable. As you state you 'flinch' when walking past crappy local architecture, I flinch when a copy of SE22 drops on my doormat.

1. Capable of being believed; plausible.

2. Worthy of confidence; reliable.

3. Being of sufficient military capability to deter an attack or carry out an operation successfully: credible military force.

ETA: So I'm unclear why SE22 magazine is considered not "credible".

I'm not sure what you expect from SE22 unlurked. I don't often read it but when I do I see it provides information as to what's happening in ED which for some people may be very useful. Full of ads from the same companies.......jeez grow up. It's a free magazine which exists because of adverts. Those people who advertise choose to because they consider it worth it. I don't think I have ever heard of a complaint about any magazine because the adverts are always the same. This is ED not the whole of London.

Seen 'the dark side of the forum . . .' thread, AM? Ring any bells?

I would've thought the majority of people understand the definition of credibility

in this instance thanks, and you know full well it has nothing to do with 'military capability'. I think you'll find a pretty high percentage of locals who would agree with me that East Dulwich deserves a 'more' credible mag than what we have at present.

Dog duck - I sense you are a frustrated creative. Someone who can spot mediocrity and who yearns and has a passion for better. That is a positive entrepreneurial quality. You just need to find the right channel for that. And personally, if you want to make any money, I don't think its an SE22 magazine replacement. Plenty other ideas out there though for those with your talents though surely?

You make some fair points MrBen... perhaps I was just stupidly fantasizing about driving around in my car emblazoned with logos etc telling everyone about my great magazine company!

    • Sorry but I think it's best if people just check things for themselves when they buy things. In three shops/restaurants (from some years back) I just avoid the places concerned, as in all three  cases I was pretty sure it wasn't a genuine mistake, and in one place  it happened more than once and usually late at night.
    • Sorry Sue - me again. This has been on my mind all day, it's a big bug bear of mine. If you don't mind - please can you private message me some of these shops so I can cross reference / add to my AVOID list.  Thanks in advance. Let's make sure this doesn't happen this Christmas, particularly as we head into sales season. Even more problematic in my experience.
    • Pity you didn't quote what you are referring to, Mal. I didn't see the previous post, and my mind is boggling 😮
