Best free weights gym in the area

Hi team

i’m looking for a gym with a decent free weights area and equipment and wondered what you thought the best one in the area was? there are so many small studio options, plus all the leisure centres..

If you can make the opening hours work (because of the College) then Dulwich College Sports Club is very good and well equipped. From memory, four power racks, heavy DBs, GHR and a cable machine. Australia and Romania used it for their training base in the 2015 Rugby World Cup and the College itself has a high-level sports programme, hence the decent kit.

Good to know, thank you! I seem to remember JAGs having a decent gym too, but it seems to have vanished from their website…

I recommend FitFor - as well as all the personalised equipment they have a free weights area with additional machines

Dulwich Leisure centre although a council gym may be what you are looking for..the refurb has meant that there is large focus on weight and strength training-may be worth you thaking a look round.

opening times are better than many private gyms.

Hi, 

I moved from the Camberwell Puregym to the Anytime Fitness on Rye Lane and have no regrets so far - the free weights areas are compact but the gym doesn't get too busy outside of 5-6pm. 

Classes are also excellent compared to Puregym.
