  1. Another big thumbs up for Niko after finding him through recommendations on here. After two other plumbers from here said the job was too small, Niko was prompt in his reply and came over as soon as was convenient for us. He was diligent and thorough investigating the problem and was able to recommend replacement parts that weren't crazy expensive. He came back to fit everything a few weeks later and had great communication and tidiness throughout both visits. He's also a top man to boot! Simon
  2. Top recommendation here for Tom- born and bred Dulwich! Tom came to swap over radiator which should have been simple enough but after testing the boiler post fitting it seems our boiler was on the way out reporting three faults. However, Tom was able to whittle down the fault to the circuit board and was able to get a replacement part on the same day and fit it so we had hot water available. Something which we definitely needed with a 2 year old in the house. Tom was great in communicating the issue and getting the parts to fix it, pushing back jobs to make sure he didn't leave pur house without everything working. We'll definitely be using him for any future boiler issues. Mobile 07944921626 Thanks, Simon
  3. A further recommendation for James who was able to come round at short notice to fix my faulty boiler as we were without hot/water heating- not great with a 1 year old in the house! Prompt and great communication as before. James's number is: 07394 912877
  4. I found James on here and got in touch yesterday afternoon half expecting my job to me too small as it was only a dripping kitchen tap (I'm an office worker so no practical skills to attempt fixing myself!). After I messaged he called within an hour to find a few more details before offering some advice. Due to an emergency job he couldn't come around straight away but he sent a link to a new tap to buy which he then picked up on our behalf and fitted this morning. Incredibly pleased with his speed and service and he seems to be an all round good bloke too. Would not hesitate to use him again and thoroughly recommend him. Simon
  5. I can absolutely second this. We had a damp issue on an external wall in our kitchen due to some of the previous owner of our house's dodgy flooring work; the water was coming in under the back door and rising. John was the only professional to locate the source of the damp during the quoting process which says a lot for the other workmen out there in this field. He is an absolute grafter, holds high standards of work and is a good communicator. There were a few other 'snags' he found when uncovering the previous owners work and was able to fix them too. We've now been through two winters after his work and there is no issues whatsoever- highly recommend. Simon
  6. May be worth looking at St Olave's Grammar in Orpington as our very own MP- Harriett Harman- sent one of her sons there. I'm not sure if they have distance criteria though
  7. Hi, I used a chap called Edmond last autumn who was great, found him on here I think. Relaible and helped with some minor gutter repairs. His number :+44 7479 095711 Simon
  8. A recommendation for Solomon here too. Am yet to visit him in ED (in a good way- no injuries!), but have been treated by him in the past for a low back issue while he was practicing in the City. Knowledgeable and friendly and would often have a natter with him walking over London Bridge in the mornings if we happened to be on the same train in. Will definitely be my first port of call should any niggles arise in future. Simon
  9. I have previously used Aston and once again he was my "go to" handyman for some minor jobs around the house that I just do not have the skills for. He was in to hang some large picture frames and mirrors, hang some shelving in the nursery and fit some lighting hooks. As ever, his communication was spot on, he was tidy and was available at short notice. Thanks Aston! Simon
  10. Good morning all, I wanted to put a recommendation up here for John Relph of JKA Damp-proofing as he has just completed some considerable work on my house. There was significant rising damp in my kitchen around the external door, wall and window section of the house which for the life of me I could not find the source of. John was able to identify it quickly (the previous owner had raised to floor an inch or so but left a gap exposed to the elements which took in the water), provided a quick quote and was able to fit my job in relatively quickly. As the work took place more issues of the previous owners botched jobs transpired (unsafe and rusted electrics, no lintel above the window!) but John was able to rectify these issues or got in the right tradesman in to do the job. He would always phone me to explain the issue and a let me know what the cost would be before going ahead with the work. He also worked a Saturday and a Sunday to get my work done which was incredibly useful. I am really pleased with the work he has done and how thorough he has been with my job and his professional pride/reputation is important to him so I have no qualms in recommending him and getting him back in if required (although I hope I won?t need to!). All his work is Triton insured and guaranteed too which was an important deciding factor for me. Happy to answer any other questions on John?s work and his contact details are: Mob- 07713187226 Office- 02088591501
  11. I live at the top of the Rye on the Nunhead side and am currently going through the whole rigmarole with my insurance company around getting it fixed following some large cracking appearing last summer during the heatwave. To complicate matters further a large Ash tree which is contributing to much of the issue is on Southwark Council land who are certainly dragging their heels on the matter. 13 months in and no remedial work on the horizon but it is all insured and I'm glad it is! Anyone who suggests going private to rectify the issue (no matter how minor) and then not declaring it when asked if you have any history subsidence by an Insurance company is committing 'non-disclosure' which could result in future claims being declined. I'm not trying to scaremonger- I work in Insurance!
  12. I would like to recommend Shaun of DEC Ltd. if anyone is looking for a goof Electrician in the area. I had him in to fit a burglar alarm today and he was absolutely brilliant. He was able to squeeze me in a short notice due to the sensitive nature of the job. He was quick, tidy, courteous and professional. He walked me through the installation, set-up and helped test it was fully working before leaving. Communication was great throughout and I would have no hesitation in getting him back for further electrical works on my house. Simon Edit for phone number: 07974 943346
  13. After finding Tim via recommendations on here I had him and his team clear two ash trees and three rose bushes this week. Really easy guy to deal with, excellent communication and they were incredibly tidy considering all the rubbish had to come through the house. Thoroughly recommend him to anyone looking for an excellent tree surgeon.
  14. Another recommendation for Aaron from me after finding him via this thread. I had him in three days last week removing two ceiling roses in the dining and sitting room then plastering over a smooth finish and also removing and replacing some coving. Really pleased with the work, great communication throughout and a pleasant chap to deal with. Sill definitely use him again if I require any more work like this. Simon
  15. Another satisfied customer of Aston's. We had Aston come round and change some light fittings and switches plus do some plaster filling to rectify to shoddy job the previous owner had attempted. Very happy with the work he has done for us and will not hesitate getting him back in for future jobs we have. Simon
  16. Hi all, We are looking to convert our loft early next year into a double room with en suite. I'm a bit reticent to go with one of the one post recommendations on here in case they are fake posts/cowboys so wondered if anyone had a genuinely good experience with a company local to Peckham Rye (SE15)? Thanks!
  17. Definitely recommend Andy. Was able to come round on the day and give great advice for resolving our issue (which was more than just plumbing matters). Will definitely use him again for any plumbing work.
