We're having an all white gloss kitchen installed shortly and had been considering a white Corian worktop. I've subsequently heard differing views and am also a little concerned about the cost. We're not keen on marble or granite. Anyone have experience of any other materials for a white worktop?

We looked into having Corian, then my inlaws had their kitchen done and used it, and I really didn't like how it looked. To me it looked cheap, despite being far from it. Theirs is very pale, just off white, against a white gloss kitchen.

We ended up using quartz, it has been great.

Coriander is really really expensive - a similar look can be achieved with a very much cheaper alternative http://www.maiaworksurfaces.co.uk/

We splashed out on a composite stone (cheaper than corian but much more than maia or butcher block) and I think it's much nicer than the Maia worktops - but they are worth a look depending on your budget. John Lewis kitchen store has them installed last time I looked and will give you a good sense of colors...

We had walnut on white gloss in the old house, which looked lovely but a bit high maintenance. We now have white corian on white gloss, which I really live although send longer than I would like wiping down surfaces to ensure that it is still mostly white (tricky with 2 small children). Found a co that did it very cheaply as they wrap the corian around mdf rather than it being solid. So we have our worktopd in double thickness at a cheaper price to our old solid wood. The co is based in Yorkshire but they work in and around London a lot. Google 'Interstyle, Castleford' and it should come up. PM me if not!

I went for granite first time round, black with a bit of sparkle. Nowhere near as hard wearing as your led to believe and shows up marks so you spend your whole time wiping it. Second time around I went with oak, looked lovely, but high maintenance!

Third time lucky (I hope) and I am erring towards quartz.....

Great thread, watching with interest...... :)

    • Called Tessa Jowell GP Surgery today after failing to get two repeat prescriptions from the pharmacy.  When I asked the pharmacy, I was told that they had been requested but not sent by the surgery.  After speaking to the surgery I was told that those two items were no longer on my repeat prescriptions.  I was told I would need a prescription review. Earliest date would be the 22 September.  That is utterly ridiculous.  Surely someone from the surgery should have contacted me to tell me this after requesting the repeat prescriptions two weeks ago.    Also, apparently, there is no point sending an email regarding prescriptions as they are not actioned nor replied to as I have discovered.
    • Erm... guessing it's like any service... so you can receive/be part of something relevant to you in the area where you happen to reside. You don't have to sign up but you might miss out on an excellent Tesco offer or two. 🤷‍♀️

    • happy to buy, but would rather not buy a new one as only need it for a very short time (Hallowe'en). Please let me know if you have one in your cupboard that you don't use.
