Calling all Goodrich reception starters sept 2013!

Hi there,

My daughter is starting in reception at Goodrich in a couple of weeks and I was wondering if anyone else wanted to meet for a picnic or something before they start? I've heard of another school previously organising something similar and that it's been really helpful to let the kids meet others in an informal setting before starting reception.

Let me know if you fancy it- time is rather short before they start but hopefully it will be possible to squeeze something in!

Does Dulwich Park suit everybody?

Dulwich park is fine for us, or Peckham rye park in the picnic area? Whatever suits others is good for us.

both good, picnic area marginally better for purposes of containment (see my thread re high energy ch ildren ;) but I can find ways to bribe the smaller one if need be.

btw has anyone heard re school dinners? I haven't had any notification from Southwark so wondering what'll happen on my son's first day, in fact haven't actually heard if he's supposed to stay for lunch or not (doing 10-1 so cd go either way).

I'd be a fan of the picnic area in pr park too for the same reason (will have 2 year old and 3 month old with me too!). Haven't heard anything about school dinners- I just assumed they'd be getting them... Will Defo ask the person who comes for the home visit, so I can sort packed lunches for the first day if needs be!

My daughter and I would love to come as well. I can't remember where I read/heard this, but I'm fairly certain they're staying through lunch the first week, with pickup straight after.

Just checked the letter and the kids do stay for lunch, they need to be collected at 1.10pm from their classroom. No mention of hot dinners or packed lunch so will assume that will be discussed at the home visit.

So Peckham Rye picnic area on Friday 6th, does 10.30pm sound good?

We could do 11am (figure you mean 10.30am...?!) but would need to leave about 12.45pm to do a nursery pick up- still time for a picnic lunch though! Or we can do the afternoon, around 3.

All Southwark primary school children up to Year 4 (or possibly more now) qualify for free school meals. If you want your child to have packed lunches then that's absolutely fine, but certainly I've found in my children's classes that pretty much everyone has school meals now.

Just looked at the weather forecast for Friday and it's looking rainy... Any wet weather ideas for venue if needs be, or shall we meet on Wednesday instead if that suits others, as the forecast is for sun? We can do Wednesday am.

We could do Weds am - have teacher visit in the afternoon. Not ED but soft play in Peckham is great for a rainy day, with added bonuses of containment and chance to chat a little.

Soft play first session is at 9-10.50 I think, shall we aim for 10?

I'll have 2 crazy boys, 4 & almost 2, the latter with a LOT of curls. Bringing a friend who's also got a child going to Goodrich.
