Two of the most commercially viable acts in the singoff. What does the public know? Who the hell is going to buy anything from Nicolas? Or Sam? Rough Copy might fill the space left by JLS, but they just aren't as polished as they were at the same stage.

I can see Simon C signing up Tamera first thing Monday morning. 16 years old, has the right look and an amazing voice.

Definitely nice guys.

Also something about the way they danced just occasionally reminded me of jedward.

THat bit was right at the end after they walked of stage for the last time ever, at least until next week for the enseble intro song and the traditional hug at the end, and the tour, etc etc etc

I'd love to see him do a version of "I am 16, going on 70" in the final.

saturday night's Wagner extravaganza summed up what's wrong with the show trying to be a singing competition rather than panto.

It's lost its ability to entertain.

Gary gave it some minor CPR, but if there had been another insipid clone a la dannii or tulisa rather than Sharon there, I suspect that this might have been the last one (at least until it underwent Dr Who style regeneration and became X Idol in the Jungle, or something)

I'm not sure, it clashed with the US one, and he'd see that as a massive step back.

Same reason Louis keeps rejecting the Irish one, i think he said something like 'once you been in Rolls Royce why would you get into a mini" or something equally patronising.

    • Hi everyone, I'm Gen, a catsitter based in Sydenham - if you're away this summer and need some care for your pets, please do consider me!  I can typically cover Sydenham, Forest Hill, Penge, Anerley, Crystal Palace, East Dulwich and parts of Peckham. If it's outside those areas, it still might be worth messaging me to see if I can help. I'm registered with Cat in a Flat, with flawless reviews – I'm happy to accept clients through there, or just directly (you can just DM me on the forum here) - whichever you're more comfortable with. I've been catsitting for a few years, and also used to volunteer for Celia Hammond. Here's my profile https://catinaflat.co.uk/pet-sitter/377081 Ping me a message if you need help or have any questions!
    • And we humans bear a lot of responsibility for creating the conditions that brought foxes into urban settings. I certainly don't regard them as pests - they are noisy little criminals, but I'm very fond of them (we have huge numbers of them in my area - I rescued a lost baby fox earlier this year). However, there are pest control companies that use humane methods to deter them and redirect them to different territories (a friend of mine works for one, but sadly for OP, I don't think this is in their catchment area).
    • Please don't call them "pests". They are animals who have as much right to be here as we do. Which doesn't mean we can't use humane ways to keep them off our crops, like fruit cages and netting.
    • This thread started about how to deal with pests that cause a lot of damage and leave unpleasant offerings, but has morphed into concerns about welfare for the pests.  I think it's time that local authorities gave us help with foxes and squirrels:  it's especially difficult trying to grow fruit and veg when these animals cause so much destruction.
