I just had some food at Chilli & Garlic, a new place on Zenoria Street. I had the chicken meal bowl which was really tasty. It’s super fresh, healthy, generous portions and really good value. They have various salad, wrap and mezze options. A few tables to sit in, or takeaway. The staff are really nice too and they’re open late. Thoroughly recommend.

For these places to be good they have to be mega efficient: high volume high speed like the one in Camberwell next to Stormbird.  If you can't hit that sort of tipping point you end up having to cut corners and you enter a sort of death spiral.  The one at the south end of Lordship Lane near Joseph's is fairly hopeless.

We had lunch here today.

It was really good.

I had a salad bowl with falafels. You don't have to have chilli and garlic - they ask you when you order.

It was a really generous portion, all very fresh, and the excellent salad  came with three very  large and tasty falafels, two stuffed vine leaves, hummus and tahini.

Excellent value. I can't remember exactly how much it was, but around £6 to £7.

My partner had a wrap, which he said was good too, and a freshly squeezed juice.

We ate in, but I took half of mine home to eat later.

There were people in front of us, but we didn't have to wait long.

They have a loyalty card - free drink the third time you go, free side the sixth time and a free wrap or bowl the tenth time.

Highly recommended!

Found Chilli & Garlic to be pretty tasty and very good value, a really welcome addition amongst the sourdough, bakeries and pub fare.

Personally, I prefer smaller sized Falafel, for more crunch and lightness. And I found overall, everything lacking a bit of punch. More Chilli and Garlic, and pickles please! Maybe that’s just what I’m accustomed to.

Highly recommend the falafel on Northcross Road market - amazing value, really excellent falafel, and you can really taste the care that goes into the homemade fresh pickles, sauces & salads.
Having travelled extensively in the middle east & I find it a close match to the many falafel stands I have tried.

    • Two wrongs don't make a right. Labour ran on a manifesto of "we aren't like them" and "we are different" and"you can trust us/we will restore faith in politics". They are doing nothing to convince anyone that any of those promises are being met - they are letting everyone down. u-turning on everything and are fast-tracking the doomsday scenario of a Reform government. Even the runway on the "it's all the Tories fault" is running out. I dislike politicians because they cannot be trusted and Rayner just highlighted that with ribbons on. She should have been so careful after the focus on the electoral roll issues she had with the house in Ashton-under-Lyne and then under a year later this comes up. Clearly the advice she took included a recommendation to take proper advice that she failed to do - that's just daft and the most galling thing is that she didn't just resign when this came up - she tried to spin out of it but must have known she was toast. Trust is fast being eroded. I desperately want Labour and Starmer to fix this because the alternative it too scary to think about but the way things are going they are fast-tracking Farage into No.10. Labour are letting us all down.
    • Same can be said for the current and prior governments
    • Good afternoon, We are looking for a gardener to tidy up our climbing rose. It is very high, so the work will require someone with a tall ladder. can you please recommend anyone?  thanks s
    • So you are also old enough to remember the Heath Out protest by the TUC when unemployment hit 1 million? We all have selective memories, this thread is no different. Please give me a list of the Labour sleaze. And compare it to the Tories.  There are a few of you who appear to have a long term dislike of Labour, so all this is a gift.
