Some local live music coming up on the 11th at Peckham Liberal Club. Bands of a variety of genres, including The Zonderlings (featuring two forum regulars). There will be DJs too. And curried goat (I think that's actual food, not the name of a band). Proceeds to the Philippines Storm Relief Fund.

It's a great venue!

ETA: Sadly they won't (or wouldn't) let anything be booked on a Friday night, for which Bingo is sacrosanct (not sure if that's grammatical, but you know what I mean ....)

Hi all,

There's a band on tonight, well my band actually, at The House of Tippler, Lordship Lane. We're kicking things off around 8.30pm through till 11pm. 70's 80's, 90's and even 00's tracks, we play all sorts. This is us: https://www.facebook.com/mixtape01 Hopefully see you there!

Glad you enjoyed the Bowie gig - - I'm one of the organisers.

If you like the club do join! membership for 2014 is now open, and we really need lots of locals to come, join, get involved, and above all USE the place. Its definitely a case of 'use it or lose' it.

Membership is ?20 PA - and you need to go and have a few drinks there - and get the signatures of two existing members to join. Mewmbership forms are avaialbel from the club - ask for Charles or Janice

The club is available for booking form external groups - as you can see above; negotiable rates depending on if you are a community or nonprofit group and so on. There's plenty of room, three bars, a snooker room, garden. There have been some great evenings there in 2013 - so roll up. We have a Burns night evening this month with reeling and haggis run by one of our members. There's yoga starting too, and quite a few other things going on which I will try and post.

If you join and get involved you can of course suggest any new activities you want to happen/run yourself ;-)

    • I also wonder if all this, recently events and so many u turns is going to also be the end of Kier Starmer.
    • And I replied: Mandelson and Trump have much in common. They are both shallow, vulgar and vain. They both fetishise wealth and power, irrespective of who holds it or how it was accumulated. They were both close friends and associates of the late Jeffrey Epstein and have moved in the same circles, as Ghislaine Maxwell’s address book allegedly confirms. Recognising another who is utterly transactional and lacking in a moral compass, there’s every chance of “Petie” fitting right in Mar-a-Largo. That Starmer couldn’t anticipate that Mandelson’s past behaviour would be problematic just proves how inept this government is.
    • Can't agree with that because he is a superb communicator - a really smart and  smooth talker. He studied PPE at Oxford and was communications director for Labour for many years.  Setting aside the "minor"  indiscretions during his time in government he has all the smoothness and ability to flatter Trump without appearing obsequious. Plus he can manage and exploit  Trump’s ego. He is highly polished socially, comfortable in elite circles, skilled at making personal connections. He can flatter and disarm, which is a useful tactic with Trump, who responds well to personal respect and praise. As a former EU Trade Commissioner and Cabinet minister, Mandelson understands international relations, trade, and diplomacy. He knows how to frame issues in terms of “wins” that Trump could claim credit for. I honestly hope that he survives.
    • He is toast  he should never have been appointed  and starmer flannelling about all of this shows exceptionally poor judgement  a disgrace all around
