Query: Clothes bin @ The Plough

Hi there

Can anyone confirm that the recycling bin @ The Plough take BOTH shoes AND clothes.

I've checked Southwark web site which suggests it's for clothes only, but I'm pretty sure I've noticed a shoe slot on there?

no idea, but you can definitely put shoes in the green bin by the Mind Shop at the G Green roundabout if you're not sure about the Plough one.

I decided to play it safe & went to DKH Sainsburys & got rid of all there

They do take shoes as well as clothes at the Plough recycling place

One thing i have spotted and meant to enquire at the Mind shop. I believe the bin outside there is managed by a 'company' (i wont mention the name) that sells clothes at Depford Market (if you have been there you will know the stall im talking about) Im not sure how charity shops get their money but I suspect these the clothes but in bins are bought by weight. Slightly a shame if people are assuming they get re sold at the charity shop.

As an aside.. Where can Clothes not suitable for resale. (Rags) be recycled.

Think these bins are run by commercial copmpanies- Its much better to take your stuff to a charity shop where they will get a decent income from them and buyers can pick up a bargain.

I was told buy one charity shop not to worry about even bringing tat ( but not worn shoes )as they get ?5 a bag when they sell this to commercial guys as 'rags'.

However some charity shops are are a bit more snooty so do check.

I might add NEVER leave anything on your doorstep to be collected in bags that drop through your door unlees it is from a known charity. If you read the very small print on the bags lots that sound like a charity are not- and only give a tiny proportion of total income to charity
