Gingergossip Posted Tuesday at 14:37 Share Posted Tuesday at 14:37 Thats the most WTF mental road scheme in London. I drive it every day hoping that I might see a cyclist making the most of this crazy road. I rarely see one, certainly fewer than one a day. I can’t help noticing that Southwark and Lewisham are under the spell of Sadiq Khan's innumerate gnomes. But that’s the green lobby for you all mouth and no maths. Don’t get me wrong I’m all for saving the planet, I just want to know that properly dressed grownups who don’t have blue streaked hair are in charge of that. Oh well, I’m off to Sainsburys with my three small kids to do my weekly shop now. They’ll have to carry their share of the bags as we fight to get on the bus. Then they’ll have to walk the half mile from the stop to our house. Maybe I’ll get one of those child murderer cargo bikes and a grin of unmerited entitlement. There We Are Then. 1 1 2 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/365902-bloody-sydenham-hill/ Share on other sites

If it weren't for those damn cyclists then you wouldn't have had to have your poor darlings fight tooth and nail against Beverly to get a seat on the 356. She's 84, yes, but she's spry and she'll gouge out an eye or two so she can get to the bingo on time. Personally I say we round up everyone who owns even an ounce of licra and cut their heads off. 1 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/365902-bloody-sydenham-hill/#findComment-1717473 Share on other sites
Sue Posted Tuesday at 18:59 Share Posted Tuesday at 18:59 Does anybody else think that every section on this forum seems to be turning into the lounge? "don't get me wrong.." is always a red flag. It always comes just after something unhinged - in this case " under the spell of Sadiq Khan's innumerate gnomes" and just before the opposite of what the "don't get me wrong" is meant to deflect from Nothing in the post describes any problem - it describes things they don't LIKE - but no actual problems 1 2 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/365902-bloody-sydenham-hill/#findComment-1717532 Share on other sites
jazzer Posted Wednesday at 11:34 Share Posted Wednesday at 11:34 And when did you become the police, judge, jury, prosecution and executioner all in one, I don't think so. Sephiroth Posted Wednesday at 12:31 Share Posted Wednesday at 12:31 (edited) a - you said you were done interacting with me, remember b - " police, judge, jury, prosecution and executioner" - the not very bright person's response on any public forum when someone point out the idiocy of anything. I haven't prosecuted anyone, executed anyone, or taken part in any trial or jury. I have judged tho but then so do you and so did the OP - so what? malumbu Posted Wednesday at 21:29 Share Posted Wednesday at 21:29 @Gingergossip In deed a bit of a joker, totally tongue in cheek, got me and others, well done (check their profile out). But unfortunately there is a bit of Alf Garnett here, where Warren Mitchell in As Death as Do Part, would say the most outrageous and offensive things. Effectively mocking and calling out some nasty right wing beliefs. But sadly some with those beliefs thought he was being serious, As we can see on this thread. 1 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/365902-bloody-sydenham-hill/#findComment-1717606 Share on other sites
CPR Dave Posted yesterday at 13:04 Share Posted yesterday at 13:04 This scheme isn't there for the benefit of cyclists. It's designed solely to impede motor traffic. No one cycles up there because there are massive hills on all sides and there is nothing there worth cycling to. 1 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/365902-bloody-sydenham-hill/#findComment-1717672 Share on other sites
malumbu Posted yesterday at 13:17 Share Posted yesterday at 13:17 I cycle up there. How else would I get to Sydenham Hill? Rockets
The Sydenham Hill cycle lanes are a very visual reminder of the nonsense of the council policy regarding cycle infrastructure. A massive white elephant if there ever was one. Very much a case of: if you build it sometimes they won't come. An utter waste of tax-payers money - one does wonder how much it cost. Sue
1 hour ago, Cyclemonkey said: Crystal Palace and Sydenham Woods are both very much worth travelling up Sydenham Hill for. Indeed. But from ED, you can more easily get to Sydenham Woods from Cox's Walk (unless you have mobility problems, as it's a fairly long steepish walk from the road to that entrance). And unfortunately (given its excellent position very near one of the entrances to the woods, where you can also easily park) The Wood House is a sad apology for a pub, with AstroTurf and plastic shrubs in the "garden" 😭 I always liked Crystal Palace, even before it became gentrified. It used to be considered so down market it took to calling itself Upper Norwood, with the emphasis on the "Upper", in a bid to improve its image. Or maybe that was just the estate agents. How things change. Youngs strike again It's even worse than it used to be. The only vaguely good thing about the garden is that at least you can see some real foliage from trees in the neighbouring gardens.
