So many scam builder salesmen have been ringing my doorbell, even banging on the door!

I opened the door to one of them, and he said: “I’m working for your neighbours. I saw your chimney is in a dangerous state, and we can help you.”

It’s the same old scam. Does anyone know where I can report this kind of fraudulent doorstep selling?👮‍♀️

Ah, guilty until proven innocent... until they run off with your money, they aren't actually doing anything wrong.  Yes, you know they are probably a scam but you have no proof of anything.  They're being a nuisance.

If they are being persistent, perhaps just contact the police

We have had 1-2 of these vile conmen knocking at our door pretty much every week for months now. I send reports to the police with their photos, hopefully something gets done about it. I recommend just not opening your door until you know it's a genuine caller & going through your smart doorbell footage (if you have one) to report them.  Do report to both the regular Police & SNT & hopefully some of these turds in human form get locked up.

I reported a scam roofing firm to Southwark Trading Standards - they were very helpful. They also wanted us to check CCTV and video doorbells of local buildings to send to them. Unfortunately both devices did not film beyond their front doors. Trading Standards work closely with the police.

    • These neighbours dislike trees period. They refused to have lost trees replaced by the Estate on our communal green. They don’t like the leaf and seed droppings. These make the grass look ‘messy’. Similarly, they don’t like my policy of leaving the tree leaves where they lie on the grass verge - hence chopping the overhanging branches. It’s like living in the 1950s. My neighbours have three gardeners with leaf blowers who come twice weekly to remove every leaf from their front lawns. Their grass is cut weekly and all the  cuttings put in multiple brown bins. It’s an outdated mindset of the moneyed classes in my view. But sadly, I’m very much in the minority.
