Has anyone made a claim for a delayed/cancelled flight against a EU airline? My son is doing so and in EU law is entitled to the maximum 600 euros compensation. It calculated on distance and time.

He sent them a 14 day email (i.e. pay up within 14 days). They initially responded but nothing since and it's probably getting on to 4 weeks since he contacted them.

Just wondered if anyone has gone this route and how long it took to get an outcome? There are law firms who will act on your behalf for 25%.

To be fair to Ryanair, they gave me a full refund on a flight. I can't remember the chain of events now, but I was due on a flight with them but didn't know if I would be able to take it. My gran wasn't well, so they told me to just book another flight for another day if needed, and they'd refund the original flight - which they did. There was no fuss at all and I wasn't really expecting anything from them.
Many years ago (about 15) I was bumped off a Ryanair Stansted to Dublin flight and put on a later flight. I needed to get to Wicklow and Ryanair had a taxi waiting at Dublin airport ready to drive us to Wicklow. That's a big taxi fare. They also part-refunded the flight. It hurts me to say this because I detest Ryanair's two fingers approach to its customers these days, but they were once a decent airline. Not any more.
