Did anyone else get approached last night on crystal palace road by two boys dressed in black

With scarves around their faces?

I went to open my door and they came up to me pointing a finger pretending to be

Have a gun. They ran off when I opened the door.

Not sure what they were after but hardly what you want when you are walking by yourself?

There was a guy with a scarf around his face acting strangely on the corner of Crystal Palace Road & Heber Road as I returned home about 8.30 last night (Weds). His body language was so odd that both myself and my friend stopped to look at him. At which point he backed away as if threatened and walked off. Couldn't give a better description as it was too dark.

On Thursday 3rd October at 21.15 one of our trainers was approached by 2 men on Blackwater street fitting the description that has been mentioned here - they tried to get in to her car and and steal her handbag...she got out of the car and confronted them and they ran off.

Its quite worrying that they are still around a week after this event!!

We reported the incident to the police.

All incidents of this sort need to be reported to the Police...

The Met. seemed to of decided that the Crime Level in the area no longer justified a Police Station

in East Dulwich. The Police Station was closed down and the Police moved out.

There is one very friendly proper 'Copper' that seems to be on duty 24/7.

Always walking around the area acknowledging everyone he passes.

On a serious note, there does seem to be more reports on EDF about incidents since the Police Station closed.

This is probably a stupid question but what number do you call to report something to the local police that is not an emergency? I had an issue this morning that my husband wants me to report to the police. Not a mugging thankfully.

or maybe victims/potential victims are getting more organised - which is good.

where's my pitchfork.:)

Someone published this recently on another post in the forum:

Upland Road has a Neighbourhood Watch group. PM me if you want your name added to the mailing list. The local Sergeant is Stewart Turnbull and contact for non emergency is: [email protected] 020 8721 2447. The main thing for NW is to not turn away if you see something. Don't think you're noisy if you're curious. Proper locks and windows. Lights that go on.

Non emergency number is 101. You get through to a Met Police operator who then takes details and passes to local team. Local team weer willing to come to house same day, but I preferred a different time. Seemed like same service just without blue lights.

I agree with Dulwich Fox. Please, pleae report these things to the Police, even if you think they won't do anything. It's important the they are recording the number of crimes.

I remember a poster a few weeks back who said she was threatened and followed/ chased on Forest Hill Road one evening.

Are they all isolated incidents? Who knows. But vital that they are being recorded.

    • I’m not a Gail’s fan but there’s no reason a business shouldn’t open on Christmas Day. However, nobody should be compelled to work the day which, given the widespread coverage of Gail’s questionable employment practices, has to be a possibility here.  The only business I ever use on the 25th is maybe a pub and that’s a rarity these days but buses running would be very welcome for visiting etc. But the swings in the park should definitely remain chained up. Are parks even open on Christmas Day?
    • To be honest, pal, it's not good being a fan of a local business and then not go there. One on hand, the barber shop literally next door to Romeo Jones started serving coffee. The Crown and Greyhound and Rocca serve coffee. Redemption Coffee opened up not far away, and then also Megan's next door to that. DVillage was serving coffee (but wasn't very popular), as was Au Ciel (which is). Maybe also Heritage Cheese, I don't know. There's also Flotsam and Jetsam doing coffee and sandwiches at Dulwich Picture Gallery in the other direction. The whole of Dulwich Village serves coffee. And yet on the other hand, there are enough punters to support all good coffee shops. With the exception of Rocca and Megan's (which are both big spaces) and C&G (which does coffee like everything else - slow and with bad service), all these places regularly get queues out the door. Gail's often has big queues and yet very few people crossed the street to Romeo Jones (which was much better)... Half the staff at Gail's are perfectly fine and efficient. The other half are pretty offhand and rude. It's certainly not welcoming or friendly service. But they're certainly hard working, and no doubt raking the money in for Luke Johnson...
    • Well according to a newspaper article, Gail’s is opening 10 shops in London,,, yup Dulwich is named 10/5 I seem to recall with others in London opening at 7 am…!, Guess that is to capture workers coming off all night shift. Offering free mince pies until they run out.. So very sad to hear about Romeo Jones… been a customer since the opening, any idea where Patrick has gone or details… please pm me.    What is going to be in its place…. Will be around in Jan…umm village is changing….
    • interesting the police said "the car was in demand at the moment" what make/model is that?
