Just wanted to let you know about Big Fish Little Fish. It's a new Family Rave that takes place at the Effra Social in Brixton once a month - they started in Sept and both the Sept and October party sold out a couple of weeks before the event. November's party is on the 16th and the headline DJ is Mixmaster Morris.

We have a large room for dancing with bubble machine, oil wheel lights and glitter cannons, a baby/chill out room with tents and playmats and a craft room where older kids can make things, get temp tattoos and help themselves to free smoothies and Bear nibbles.

The music level is kept low enough to be safe for babies' ears. What sets us apart from 'baby discos' is that we have credible DJs and a music policy that encompasses different genres but with a good percentage of old-school rave tunes (for example: Voodoo Ray, On a Ragga Tip, The Sun Rising, Promised Land). Our DJs also play a bit of ska, 70s funk, pop, drum and bass and hip hop. DJs who have performed include Nihal, Chefal from Rinse FM and DJ Food.

You can buy tickets from our website - www.bigfishlittlefishevents.co.uk

Tickets for the 16th have nearly sold out so if anyone fancies coming along - the last few are available from http://www.wegottickets.com/bigfishlittlefishproductions

We're also launching in North London later this month - Sunday 24th November at the Dome, Tufnell Park with DJs Si Begg and Miss JT (Secret Garden Party) - if you've got any friends with kids who live that way and you think would enjoy it, please let them know.

Thanks,

Natasha

Saturday went BRILLIANTLY - thanks to all ED Forum members who came.

Mixmaster Morris did a space-themed set for us which you can hear here: http://www.mixcloud.com/nubient/mixmaster-morris-big-fish-little-fish-brixton/

Captain Cookie made robot masks with the kids in the Happy Monkey Craft Room and the young ravers enjoyed free Bear nibbles and Happy Monkey smoothies.

The new head chef at the Effra Social ran a hot dog stall with large and small versions of classic, veggie and even chocolate hotdogs.

Hope you can join us on Dec 14th for our Christmas Panto themed party with DJs JC Mighty and Joe Muggs (Mixmag, Sound of the Cosmos etc).

Tickets available here http://www.wegottickets.com/bigfishlittlefishproductions

We say it's aimed at families with kids aged `10 and under. The older ones really enjoy the craft room as well as the main room.

We've put tickets on sale for Jan 18th, Feb 15th, March 15th and April 12th now - some truly great DJs lined up: Raf Daddy, Mark Force (Bugz in the Attic), Jonny Trunk and Frank Tope (Rooty).

Two thirds of the tickets are already sold for Dec 14th. We've now got tickets on sale for Jan 18th (Frank Tope of Rooty) and February 15th (Mark Force from Bugz in the Attic). The parties just keep getting better and better. We sold out a 700 capacity venue in Tufnell Park last Sunday - look out for a big feature on Big Fish Little Fish in Mother and Baby magazine in the new year. It's all happening!

We were asked by Rob Da Bank to do a festive mix for the Camp Bestival site - you can hear it under door number 5 on the Bestiadvent calendar: http://bestiadvent.net/ or if you don't want to log in you can hear it here: http://www.mixcloud.com/bestimix/bestimix-camp-bestival-christmas-mix-by-joe-muggsbflf/

    • Why don’t you speak to head of English at private schools? Might be able to recommend a senior student.. pity now summer hols.   Was how my friend found a tutor for both their kids - maths and science and English.. They also have some mag covering schools as well
    • What is the reason for the change in name? Just curious.
    • Why change it?  You’ve got a fantastic historic, memorable name and you want to change it for something innocuous,  meaningless and empty
    • From the school newsletter:   A New Name for Dog Kennel Hill As you know we have been discussing and consulting with stakeholders about a  name change at DKH for a while. Following engagement with staff, pupils and  families, we gathered all views on a name change for the school and after  careful consideration of the feedback, the Local Committee and the Trust have  agreed with changing the school name to Grove Primary School from  September 2025.  Over the next few months we will begin a gradual process of changing our  name on signage, our website and emails etc. We will keep you updated.  We will be looking at designing a new logo to match the new school name and  will be working closely with a graphic designer to get creative. The school  council will be actively involved in this process. We will share the results with  you as soon as a design has been agreed and confirmed. We will be creating a  new school jumper to replace the old one, once the logo has been finalised. We  will phase this in over time.  We know that this is a welcoming change for some and that there are  parents and children who will be sad about the change. However, as a school  we think it will be a positive change for our school community and we will  work together to ensure that the ethos and culture of DKH will remain!
