I was with dmc crystal palace road when pregnant and I'm pretty sure my midwife (Lanes) said they only see women who are registered with the cpr branch. Changed to Chadwick road when my daughter was born so not sure how it works, but I can say that their baby clinic is very good and of course much easier to get an appointment! Hope that helps x
DMC Chadwick Rd are linked with the East Team community midwives, you can see the midwife there for your antenatal appointments on Fridays and the East team follow you up at home afterwards. You don't get quite the same continuity if care that you do with Lanes or Brierly because the midwife doesn't come with you to the hospital and you might see a few different MWs postnatally, but you should see the same MW for all of your antenatal appointments and all the ones I met postnatally were great. Also agree that their baby clinic is great, usually don't have to wait too long and they have a new Health visitor, Ros, who seems lovely and very sensible.
I was with DMC CPR and had the Lanes midwives for my first son, and am now with DMC Chadwick Road and under the care of the East Midwives for my second. I think you can register with the Lanes but they give priority to CPR patients. The only real thing I miss is the continuity of having the same midwife for every antenatal appointment, but to be honest, when it came to the actual point of giving birth the Lanes midwife I had been seeing was off shift anyway so I had a Kings midwife there. It is much easier getting appointments at Chadwick road (in my experience) and Leslie-Ann (the main midwife there) is fab, definitely someone who I feel will be in my corner on D-day! I have seen two other midwives there (when Leslie-Ann has been attending home births) and they were very good as well.

    • I wouldn't be going all the way to Dobbies  just to take flowerpots! 😀 It's a very good garden centre with a wide range of well kept  plants and helpful staff, at least it was on the only occasion I've visited it, last year!
    • Why do Councils need more funding? What are they spending our money on, how efficiently are they running? are they performing an adequate service as is? Are they viewing the public with contempt, that we will continually foot larger bills to cover all and any costs? Do our counsellors do their best, for us? why are they adding this on to the residents, on top of tax already paid? Council tax is not insubstantial. The service provided is not great. I do not believe they use our money effectively.  Our CT Bill is £50 a week.
