Anna, be really cautious with tramodol it's strong, fairly sedating and the effects are very variable from person to person.

It's what's know as a dissociative analgesic, which means that it doesn't take your pain away so much as make you less aware of it, and sometimes less aware of everything else too. Some people tolerate it very well and find it effective, others get drowsy and disorientated on a small dose.

Definitely don't drink while you're taking it and if you've been prescribed a range (ie 1-2 tablets) start with the smallest listed dose until you see how you get on with it.

PM me if you want any more info.

Anna

Jimbob I too am on the antibiotics at the mo for a chest infection. Although I have in the past sunk just as much booze whilst on the pills as off them, I am giving my body a rest because they just won't work if mixed with the prescribed drugs.

Antibiotics rob you of all bacteria good and bad. Alcohol robs the body of nutrients. So with those two factors put together, I would prehaps make an early exit at the wedding. Take the car, then you can't drink:))

Cheers Annaj - I was being a bit daft as I'm bored at home.

Had ACL reconstruction last week and am currently housebound and obviously on pain killers. Having experienced the effects of Tramadol in the past week I definitely will be staying off the booze until I'm done. I have never slept so much in my life. It has certainly made me drowsy, to the point of falling asleep on people mid conversation. :-S

The morphine straight after the op was pretty good too. :)

    • Has anyone else experienced bites lately? I've been bitten for the last 5 evenings at home & have no idea why? No one else seems to be affected at home which is good news but it's really getting frustrating. Is anyone else experiencing anything like this? It always seems to be around 7pm as if it's dinner time & I'm on the menu.

    • I also thoroughly recommend Aston. He was super helpful over the phone helping us work out what we needed, was able to fit us in really quickly, and they were so lovely, professional, knowledgable and did a great job. They built some custom fitted shelves for us, mounted our tv on the wall and put together some big ikea furniture that had been taken apart and looked like there was no hope putting back together again but they managed to!
