The Rose Pub is proud to announce we are now serving food each and every day of the week from 5-10pm. We have a tasty range of tapas-style dishes including truffled risotto balls, devilled whitebait, mini Cumberland sausages, home made soup and much more! We are also now selling mulled wine, liqueur coffee's and luxury hot chocolates (with lots of whipped cream and marshmallows - yum!) to get in to the Xmas spirit. So if you fancy cozy-ing up on the sofa by the fire with a hot drink and some yummy food.. Come and pay us a visit!

A friend and I went to The Rose yesterday evening. We arrived at 5.15 and left at about 9pm (ish)

The whole place was empty bar a few punters, some indifferent staff, and equally indifferent food.

They had run out of the only decent red wine on offer, and the only decent thing on offer on the tapas 'style' menu. Strange given the place is always empty...

Under-cooked chunky chips, limp whitebait, grisslely (sp?) chicken goujons, mini sausages, and deep fried risotto balls. Freezing inside, and when we went outside so my friend could have a fag, all ashtrays full and glasses still on tables.

The place always had some punters at the bar - builders mainly - a great laugh, but more importantly paying customers.

Come on girl - sort it out. Banning people from an already failing business....Really??

    • I think digital id is potentially a good thing, number of reasons for that. Eventually it will encompass services you already have from the goverment, your driving licence,  you NI number, your gov gateway (all obvious extensions)  Services like photo card driving licences have already proved to have flaws, including Mr Smith, who looks similar to Mr Green,  passing Mr Greens test to get Mr Green a "dodgy" dtiving licence as an example.  Digital id may also ensure only people entitled to NHS care get it and health tourists pay to use our health service.  However, whilst I think.its a good idea, social media will ensure it is still born. Over the weekend I've seen so many anti digital id posts, including Kier as Davros leading the Labour Daleks (did make me chuckle) , comparisons to 1984 and even a song about it. Someone posted "what would happen if we all refused to sign up" and how within 31 days it would topple the government.  Will it actually happe maybe , but I have a feeling, like most things whatever way it goes both sides will again employ project fear and misinformation.
    • Yep.  Yet completely in keeping with this mad post-Brexit country  Yeah but the poll tax was manifestly unfair financially where the richest millionaire paid same as a single pensioner in a one bed flat  this id thing is just… hysterical
    • I'd like to add a recommendation for Andy. He very helpfully fitted in my smallish job of putting up a couple of curtain poles so I could get some curtains up before a visitor was staying. He was very easy to communicate with, thoughtful and did a great job. Will definitely use him again.
    • @Insuflo Couldn't agree more - the whole focus on immigration.  Wrote to Ellie yesterday on this saying in my peer group there are more important issues. Don't necessarily agree on other things you have posted but this is the forum at its best having real debate
