Bluerevolution
It has been confirmed this happened in Tessa Jowells constituency, clearly stated NOT in the Dulwich half of her constituency.James Cracknell @JollyJourno 13mI can confirm the location of yesterday's Lambeth 'slavery' arrests was in the constituency of Tessa Jowell - Norwood/Tulse Hill/Herne Hill.James Cracknell @JollyJourno 10mTessa's constituency is split between Southwark and Lambeth but the arrests were in the Lambeth half - not Dulwich. fl0wer
Sorry, Bluerevolution please could you clarify your point. Is it the worry that it could have been happening in a house next door?Or about our MP somehow not being alert enough? PeckhamRose
On the BBC webpage it asks for people in Lambeth to tell them how they feel that this happened so close to them in Lambeth. If I were on the other side of the planet I would feel JUST as bad that it happened as I would had it been in the next street. So sad. Millhaven
Sounds suspiciously like this story isnt quite as horrific as first reported. I had images of 3 women handcuffed to a pipe in a Lambeth cellar. Not saying they weren't ill treated but I suspect there has been some sensationalism afoot. fl0wer
Maybe more newsworthy at present is that the Freedom charity says it has been approached by many more people since this story broke.A gradual discovery that enslavement can happen anywhere, because as a spokesperson said on radio this morning, it is a fairly easy crime to conceal. nunheadbelle
What a strange post, not sure what response the poster is looking for.Anyhow this isn't really a revelation, there have been several programmes on TV about slavery in the past year or two. It's sad that in this day and age it still goes on, especially without others in the same street knowing anything about it. We have isolated ourselves so much, maybe we should be more aware of our neighbours. Sad to say gone are the days of people knowing everybody in their street. tallulah71
I bet the 3 women don't think of it as sensationalism. DulwichFox
Well it has been revealed on BBC News that the house they were found in wasn't built 30 years ago. This would mean that they would all of moved at sometime if the story is credible. Also revealed that the women were allowed out of the house at times. Neighbour revealed that on one occasion when he knocked at their door all 5 occupants came to the door. So there are a lot more questions to answer. DulwichFox.
