JimH
I think it is still there but just had a refurb! same guy (as he was sitting outside a couple of days ago) and think he has just given it a bit more space inside (and light!!) dv1
Sergio the previous owner closed it down after years of battling with Dulwich Estates and the increase in other coffee shops in the Village - basically too much supply and not enough demand. He worked very hard to make that place work but in the end it was not worth it.Stefano is the new owner and has refurbished the place with better seating inside Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/38850-panino-doro-deli/#findComment-699485 Share on other sites
Hagrid
Yes feel very sorry for Serg, whilst his prices were high he was a great guy and top croissants. Dulwich Estates should be ashamed about allowing Romeo's, Cafe Rouge,Aucel Rocca and Gails to all come in against him whilst not supporting existing business and more importantly by not trying to add value to the village, i.e. butchers (one who applied for Gails shop - but I believe was turned down by DE), allowing the closure of the petrol station etc., I've also heard the post office is to close as well due to high rents so expect to see another coffee shop! Im not against a free market, but this does mean that increasingly the village at weekends resembles Wimbledon Village where all and sundry travel in to eat at chains and the locals leave well alone. That said, service is rubbish at the Dog and I don't think its been cleaned for years so good on DE for closing and developing that one. Mick Mac
Gail's is great imo. I don't care if there is more than one of them, surely that means people like what they do. Jah Lush
Hagrid, the service at the Dog has been rubbish since Roy Gleason left at the fag end of the 70s. Having said that I never used the deli. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/38850-panino-doro-deli/#findComment-699562 Share on other sites
