Can anyone recommend a cookery book for an eleven year old?

My 11 year old niece has requested a cook book for all meals for Christmas. We bought her a kids cook book a few years ago but I get the impression she wants something a bit more grown up now. Nothing too whacky as she is a fussy eater but a good all-round book with help for some of the trickier techniques.

I think my oldest had the Mary Berry main one at that age or even younger. It has loads of idiot-proof recipes, both savoury and sweet.

Delia Smith - Complete cookery course' - tried and tested, always reliable regardless of what you think of Delia herself. If your niece is an aspiring cook this is a good starting point.

ETA: to correct spelling. Oh and I do like Nigel Slater too!

The early Nigel Slaters are good too. That was my first cook book and I still have a rather tatty version now.

I'd go for good old Delia Smith complete cookery course as suggested above

I think Nigel slater is really good for basics. And nigella for baking.

I worked on a DK title called 'Cook It'. It's specifically aimed at 8+. Lots of good recipes and fun ideas. Only published this year.
