Love Roy Keane.

Best manager you ever played for. Brian Clough, without a doubt.

Best MU team, based on players you played with. No Scoles and no Giggs. On Giggs, "just because you have a great career doesnt mean you are a great player". Ronaldo gets the left wing spot. Ince gets the midfield spot alongside Keano.

Greatest moment at Man United. Being invited to play for the club.

Dear Mick,

I am not sure if you are aware but there is a whole thread called Football Focus on the EDF for say discussing, mmm, Manchester United's decline, or, ummmm, Roy Keane's autobiography...this stops spamming up the forum,

Let me know if you want any help on how to use the forum in the future

Best wishes

????

"Dear" Quids.

The Football Focus thread is a poor and disjointed manner in which to discuss any football related topic such that any matter is never discussed with any cohesion, before disappearing amongst all of the other mish mash of comments

If I/we want to ringfence a particular football issue then we should and if it does not have legs it will quickly die. I expect the Man United issue to have longevity of interest although I obviously don't expect the same from the Roy Keane thread.

Whilst the lounge is an inactive as it is currently, I'll continue. That's what the Lounge is there for.

Mick

PS: I know I am dear to you - but we have moved on from addressing each other in letter format posts on this forum a few years back.

PPS. FECK OFF ;-)

Agree with Keanes sentiments above. Giggs' greatness came from longevity rather than being the best player. Both Sharpe and Kanchelskis had better periods than Giggs ever did, but obviously depends what your best team means. As a long term manager Giggs as good as it gets performing at the top for so long. But for one season if i could have a player on their top form sharpe/kanchelskis and ince would def be in instead of giggs and scholes. 'Best' manager not so clear as think Fergie did what clough did for longer. Fergies ruthlessness unlikely to make him a players favourite but from a clubs point of view no one will ever be better.

Just finished reading SAF's autobiography and I do think he manages a more balanced outlook on many things than Keane does. That wisdom comes with age though none of us will be perfect however old we get. I did find it amusing that he said Beckham was the only player he ever came across who could never admit to having made a mistake (in a game). Even after showing him the video of what he meant Beckham couldn't see it.

I also agree that Giggs was not the greatest but his longevity is amazing. When I saw him score his first goal against Spurs (I think) I was hoping for a new Georgie Best as it was a great goal. He was never that though.

I really liked Kanchelskis and can only guess he moved for money. Sharpe too was good but perhaps lacking the dedication of some of the others in that era.

Ger off my thread.

I did say one of his finest hours. But you don't get called the Guvnor (even if he chose the name himself the press ran with it) without bossing a fair few games so he would have had a few.

Keane said some people forget how good Ince was, when putting him in in front of Scholes.

Watched at and was erring toward giving RK some benefit of any doubt until he was asked about the Haaland assault and if he'd do anything different? - "No."

Whether it ended Haaland's career or not that was an occasion he could and should have reflected on. OK to go head to head with someone but that was something completely other.

    • Sorry but I think it's best if people just check things for themselves when they buy things. In three shops/restaurants (from some years back) I just avoid the places concerned, as in all three  cases I was pretty sure it wasn't a genuine mistake, and in one place  it happened more than once and usually late at night.
    • Sorry Sue - me again. This has been on my mind all day, it's a big bug bear of mine. If you don't mind - please can you private message me some of these shops so I can cross reference / add to my AVOID list.  Thanks in advance. Let's make sure this doesn't happen this Christmas, particularly as we head into sales season. Even more problematic in my experience.
    • Pity you didn't quote what you are referring to, Mal. I didn't see the previous post, and my mind is boggling 😮
    • The Cherry Tree was absolutely excellent for a while when a youngish couple ran it and brought in a really good chef. It was them who renamed it The Cherry Tree. They were really turning it around. The chef did fantastic Scotch eggs, and one of the best roasts I've ever had. If memory serves the then owner,  for some reason known only to himself, took a dislike to them and what they were doing and sacked them all. And yes we weren't expecting a top class  meal last Christmas, and we left it too late to book anywhere else, but we weren't expecting it for a hundred pounds EACH to be quite as terrible as it was. Stupid us. Not sure why you are confused by my post, Jazzer? Did I misremember? Now it's got even more confusing because my posts have been merged and your confused emoji is shown at the bottom of the second one instead of the first 🤣
