Bonfire2010
Hi allI am 38 weeks pregnant and was diagnosed with polyhydramnios a few weeks ago. Apart from being extremely uncomfortable, I haven't been overly worried as my midwife seems pretty laid back about it and I am having scans every two weeks at Kings to monitor things. However, I stupidly decided to do some further research (ie. I got on Google) and am now worried about things like cord prolapses and haemorrhaging. Has anyone else had polyhydramnios in their pregnancies and can give me some idea about what to expect/do when I go into labour? I have an appointment with my midwife on Friday and will be asking her for more detailed guidance, but anything from anyone who has actual first hand experience would be really appreciated. Thanks x Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/39309-polyhydramnios-anyone/ Share on other sites
hazelnunhead
Hi bonfireI had this as well ..... I think stay away from google!!!! I had no problems, although let's just say when my waters broke, there was definately a lot of it! So be prepared on that front! When I was told I had it, the midwife was not concerned at all, I think a doctor was nearby when I gave birth ..... Precautionary measures, and all turned out well. Good luck to you, I think this is fairly common .... Mae
I had it and it turned out to be due to gestational diabetes which I assume has been ruled out. I was also worried about all the things you mention but was induced due to the GD and all went fine - no problems at all...x Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/39309-polyhydramnios-anyone/#findComment-703268 Share on other sites
Bonfire2010
Many thanks to you both for replying. GD has been ruled out (I am tested every few weeks). Hopefully all will be well.
