Dear East Dulwich Forum Administrator I'd like to talk seriously about Weight Control (if permitted) I hope this is the space...


The majority of weight loss approaches typically tend to look more at exercise programing, how much exercise and/or how often for example. There is also plenty of emphasis out there on the intricacies of a diet plan and its relative effectiveness for our weight lose ambitions. But less if any attention is given to behavioural aspects of weight loss. If 'eat less-move more' was as 'black and white' to implement for the masses as the analogy suggests then weight loss would be easy. But it simply isn't.


One of the major differences between a person wanting to lose weight and someone wanting to stop smoking for example is that smokers can literally erase that behaviour completely, whereas to lose weight you can?t stop eating- you have to eat several times a day, so in order to make the changes I believe you have to learn to think and feel differently about food.

Low GI is the way to go. Steer well clear of glucose-fructose syrup, corn syrup etc because it is addictive for a start and plays havoc with the blood sugar (as does alcohol). Complex carbs, whole grains and good quality protein. And exercise for all-round physical and mental well-being
