Not sure if anyone saw it, but in the last issue of Private Eye the architecture correspondant, Piloti, had a few disaproving words against the knocking down of "Friern Road" school which I can only imagine is the wreck on the site of the new proposed boys school.

In this weeks isssue he goes on to berrate Lewisham council for their vaccilation over the future of Forest Hill Pools (the oldest swimming pool in London apparently) and compares it with our own councils positive attitude towards rennovating ED baths (has this been started yet?)

Is Piloti a local? Does he read the forum?

I haven't read the article you refer to but I know that Piloti is the pseudonym for Gavin Stamp, a well-known architectural historian and teacher. He has very strong views (although I don't always agree with them...my claim to fame is that I was named in his column on Private Eye last year - yes, I work in architecture - and although his were not exactly kind words, I was quite flattered to have somewhat stirred his attention...:))

Info on Gavin can be found here, I do not know if he lives locally or reads the forum:

    • Personally I think the second weekend has always been a tactical ploy with no real intention of going ahead with it. The council then turn it down (saying they have listened to us, which of course they haven’t) and announce that they will only license one weekend. GALA get the result that they want - job done. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if the council even suggested this ploy, they are so desperate to keep the event.
    • Hello Tori, which of the three incumbent Labour Councillors are you hoping to replace?
    • I just checked the Southwark Council website and it stated:   All responses to the consultation will be recorded and a ‘consultation findings’ report will be published once feedback has been reviewed. The review process involves collating feedback from a number of council teams and external agencies - the aim will be to publish the report as soon as possible after the consultation has closed and no later than the 31 January 2026. The report will be published on this site. The use of bold type on the date is the Council's, not mine. They are late. I wonder why?
    • I would also like to recommend Leon, who completed an EICR inspection for us. He kept us informed of his arrival time on the day and arrived promptly as promised. He was knowledgeable and clear about what work was required. I would happily recommend him and would not hesitate to use his services again.
