Wanted: Builder/kitchen designer for kitchen job

Hi, we are looking to knock through a wall between kitchen and dining room to create a spacious kitchen diner. Bit unsure as to whether to approach an architect/kitchen designer/builder etc. I would love to hear from anyone who has had a similar job done how they went about it. We have a clear idea of what we are after but unsure how to implement it! Many thanks.
