LadyDeliah
It's my daughter's 22nd birthday next week and I'm taking her to a posh dinner in Temple and want to have a few drinks in a posh cocktail bar afterwards.Any suggestions? KidKruger
LD if you seriously want quality cocktails I'd recommend the bars of decent large hotels such as The Mandarin, Park Lane, Hilton Park Lane, Claridges, Mayfair Hotel bar (where I trained as cocktail barman). They are properly trained and IMO are the only consistent genre of bars that deliver the best in mixed drinks. Jeremy
Well the Savoy and the Wardorf are just round the corner... Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/41549-posh-cocktail-bar-near-temple/#findComment-722913 Share on other sites
haruki
Radio rooftop is supposed to be great, open air terrace with views across the river. Nigello
One Aldwych is good, or the bar at Skylon (which is a walk over the bridge), with its good views of the river. StraferJack
Expensive dinner in temple maybe. But posh (as in expensive AND good?). Curious as to whereCocktails not a thing in that area either. Agree with advice to head to Mayfair/soho Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/41549-posh-cocktail-bar-near-temple/#findComment-722965 Share on other sites
seemster
Radio rooftop is indeed great, as are the views - spent an amazing sunny afternoon up there last summer. You'll probably need to book and I think the entrance has now moved to the back (ie kingsway facing-side of the block) when it was previously right on the corner. If you're up for a short walk up Kingsway to Holborn there's the bar in the Rosewood Hotel - might not be a 22 year old's cup of tea but I'd say it qualifies as posh. Or the American Bar at the Savoy as someone already mentioned. As someone else said Skylon is a nice venue and could be a good walk over the river weather permitting. Salsaboy
The American bar in the Savoy is fab, but take a huge wodge of cash as v.expensive. MrBen
???? Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> ..and a tieThat might be tea at the Ritz you're thinking of Quidsy? Last visit to American Bar they wanted smart dress but ties were optional. It's not that easy to get in as they don't take bookings so you might have to queue for 10-15 mins inside. All types of people/freaks in there. But a classic cocktail on a quiet week night there is still an experience and comes with plenty history. LadyDeliah
We ended up getting drunk with a barrister and his clerk in Middle Temple Hall, so didn't make it to cocktails :-) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/41549-posh-cocktail-bar-near-temple/#findComment-724834 Share on other sites
