Have just found out that my sister was nearly mugged on Lordship Lane at about 5pm on Saturday 23 August. A mad looking mad approached her and tried to snatch her bag offering a "trade". She tried to cross the road to avoid him but there were too many cars. A really nice couple came to her rescue and escorted her to the police station. So thank you so much whoever you are. My sister said as a result she thinks ED is a nice area (mugger excepted). I'm less impressed with the response from ED police station which seemed somewhat indifferent but that's another story....

Is it just me or is the police station on LL the most sinister you've ever seen? I live just behind it so I'm always passing by and my pace always quickens a little because the place is just creepy. A bit like the police station in Racoon City (maybe that's just me).

Anyhow - glad your sister came to no harm slummy.

there's a bit of that giggirl, yes...

Slummy's story reminds me of the first day I set foot in ED - we were coming from East London to check the place out and ended up getting a bus from Surrey Quays to Sainsbury's via Peckham - wandered on to DKH and down towards LL and saw a woman in distress outside KwikFit - I had no idea if she had been mugged, fallen over or knocked down by a car - but I did see 3 different blokes from different directions run to help her and thought "this could be my area". I still see little things like that all the time

    • Well thanks for enriching the conversation.  Would you chuck Fah - rage in too for his tax avoidance on his property?   I expect it was lead story on Jeremy Vine too.  Doesn't make it a story, just a bit more of BBC tabloid style sensationalism.  There are numerous real news stories in the UK and across the world.  And now, apt for Halloween, you have summoned up the ghost of Louisa. So for the third time, will you now eat humble pie?
