We always use our local builder Lenny for things like this, the man can do anything, he is so helpful and his quotes are at very competitive rate. We have used him many times in the past and have always been pleased with the outcome!

His number is 077 8000 4007

Ok so... Lesson on DAMP!

Everyone on here seems to have damp problems due to the constant rain whether it be a ugly looking patch on your wall or a crack in your ceiling the problem all starts with YOUR ROOF!

You can NOT just paint over the damp it?s only a temp fix and will just end up looking even worse. So many of my friends and my dad have also had the same problem and if you actually live in east Dulwich you will probably be experiencing it as well.

All our homes in Dulwich are old, let?s face it, they have been built using old fashion methods. The felt on our roofs are not breathable and will cause condensation in our lofts which then trickles down our walls and over time will form a horrible looking patch on your wall or even crack your ceiling. I have actually been up on my roof and you don?t realise how bad it is until you have someone explain to you what you are looking at. You just don?t realise because you can?t see it until that nasty patch appears on your wall. Out of sight out of mind but trust me it?s worth having a quick look or getting someone to check it out!

Hope this helps

:)

No as I said I went up onto my own roof and Lenny explained everything to me, hence this post. Most people don't know enough about their roofs and that's the main reason as to why I like Lenny so much as I learned a lot throughout the works, he keeps you involved so you know what your paying for thank you very much Jeremy.

    • Thought others may be interested to help a local community centre help others.    My bank account offers roundup and it’s been growing all year. As well as treating myself or putting it towards a train ticket to see my family I’ve made a donation to the Albrighton. They can use donations at any time but I hope my donation will go towards the Christmas hampers.    Can you support them so they can provide Christmas hampers?   https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/albrightoncommunityfridge?utm_id=1&utm_term=M22JKQb6W   A donation of £50 will pay for a hamper to feed a family over this Christmas period. A donation of £30 will pay for a hamper to feed someone living on their own over the Christmas period.
    • I've never got Christmas pudding. The only times I've managed to make it vaguely acceptable to people is thus: Buy a really tiny one when it's remaindered in Tesco's. They confound carbon dating, so the yellow labelled stuff at 75% off on Boxing Day will keep you going for years. Chop it up and soak it in Stones Ginger Wine and left over Scotch. Mix it in with a decent vanilla ice cream. It's like a festive Rum 'n' Raisin. Or: Stick a couple in a demijohn of Aldi vodka and serve it to guests, accompanied by 'The Party's Over' by Johnny Mathis when people simply won't leave your flat.
    • Not miserable at all! I feel the same and also want to complain to the council but not sure who or where best to aim it at? I have flagged it with our local MP and one Southwark councillor previously but only verbally when discussing other things and didn’t get anywhere other than them agreeing it was very frustrating etc. but would love to do something on paper. I think they’ve been pretty much every night for the last couple of weeks and my cat is hating it! As am I !
    • That is also a Young's pub, like The Cherry Tree. However fantastic the menu looks, you might want to ask exactly who will cook the food on the day, and how. Also, if  there is Christmas pudding on the menu, you might want to ask how that will be cooked, and whether it will look and/or taste anything like the Christmas puddings you have had in the past.
