Hi. We are considering Childcare options for when I go back to work after no2. I have a three year old also. The cost of nursery for two is eye watering, so I'm wondering if a live in nanny is comparable cost-wise. Does anyone have any experiences of a live in nanny? If so, how did you find it? Re costs, is it similar to a nanny share or much more? Our situation is complicated by the fact that my son may need surgery (possibly two) so I might need someone at home with him while he recovers from it (I would be there for a few weeks but wouldn't want him with other kids until he is well and truly healed). Any advice would be gratefully received!

Dear Shaunag and Norfolkvillas

Would you mind Pm me any information you have on live-in nannies as we are also considering this as an option as I plan to return to full time work when my son is 6 or 7 months old?

Also has anyone come across live-in options where the nanny only lives with you Monday to Friday ie so you have the house to yourselves at weekends?

Thanks in advance

    • ...and so, 4 years on from the "dramatic planning meeting" that approved the "meganursery", how has it all worked out in reality? The building looks nice from the outside - but I don't know anything more. Did either of the nursery businesses on EDG fail because there was no demand for nursery places in East Dulwich? Did Carmageddon on East Dulwich Grove get worse? Were pre-COVID work patterns abandoned forever (lol)? Were some of the concerns expressed in opposition to the planning application a teensy bit overblown...? https://southwarknews.co.uk/area/southwark/mega-nursery-approved-amid-dramatic-planning-meeting/
