Alan Medic
I want a small item but want to know if anyone has a surefired way of getting the last bid in before the time lapses?I've no experience of doing this but have read a bit about software you can use or the automated bidding process. Presumably other bidders could be using the same.If it comes to the crunch how late can you leave it to register a final bid? Does for example your internet speed enter into the equation? Anyone have any tips? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/42009-bidding-in-auction-on-ebay/ Share on other sites
steveo
I usually panic at 5 seconds. Don't forget it's the confirm button you need to hit. There is software but it doesn't make the adrenaline pump in the same way Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/42009-bidding-in-auction-on-ebay/#findComment-727550 Share on other sites
*Bob*
Feel the magic and personal satisfaction of seeing your first-time, dying seconds bid top of the list of legitimate bidders, snatching it out of their by-the-book reach... While you're down the pub. http://www.jbidwatcher.com Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/42009-bidding-in-auction-on-ebay/#findComment-727557 Share on other sites
Loz
I'm with steveo - the last few seconds are an adrenaline rush.Importantly - make sure your computer time is set correctly. Look up how to do a manual sync with a time server before you start bidding.I usually chuck in a very low early bid just to get things going. Then, like any auction, you need decide what the most you would like to pay. eBay's bidding system means that just because you bid ?20, doesn't mean that's what you pay. If the next lowest bid is, say, ?12 and the next highest allowable bib is ?12.20, then that is what you will pay.So, with a minute or to go, get the page up. With 30 seconds to go enter your maximum bid and press the 'place bid' button. This brings up the confirm bid screen - with five seconds to go, press 'confirm' and cross your fingers. Alan Medic
I did it. Waited till less than 60 seconds and it worked. I may have put in a max greater than my only opponent did. Otta
I like to look for auctions that end in the middle of the night. Picked up a guitar pedal for 30 quid that usually goes for around 60 on ebay because the guy sekking it put it on at 2am. I put my highest bid at 50, went to bed, and woke up to find I'd lmgot a bargain. Loz
MoneySavingExpert has a list of 'typo search engines' in which you can find stuff the normal search misses.http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/ebay-protection?utm_source=MSE_Newsletter&utm_medium=Email&utm_term=30-Jul-13&utm_campaign=shopping&utm_content=46#spell Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/42009-bidding-in-auction-on-ebay/#findComment-727714 Share on other sites
Alan Medic
I noticed that today whilst doing some research. Basically it's about people who don't spell something correctly missing out which benefits the clever one's who realise there are people who don't spell correctly. katanita
I use just snipe https://www.justsnipe.com/ it's basic but it works. I leave it at 8 secs. Has worked pretty successfully so far but nothing you can do if someone has put in a higher bid all along of course. Alan Medic
My son mislaid the cable for an electric razor. It's probably in his bedroom but may have taken days to find.
