Herne Hygiene

I caught a stomach bug after having a burger at the Herne Tavern last summer. The worst case I've ever experienced!

I recently discovered a website that tells you the government food hygiene ratings for businesses in your area & thought this following link might be of interest to anyone thinking of dinning there in the future.

Photosolo....I am curious as to why you chose now to put out your criticism of the Herne as your stomach bug was last summer?

Also, that poor rating you draw attention to was issued 10 months ago and they may have gone to some lengths to improve it...?

I notice you have also used the FSA website to highlight [criticise?] a butchers in another thread...Forest Hill Road Shop Fronts

why now?

I just discovered the website & thought it was quite useful.

I'm not a regular user of this forum but I'd consider this info to be worthy of uploading.

I personally think its quite shocking that anywhere could have a rating of Zero or One stars?

Im not trying to lynch anyone, I seriously thought this was a useful website so apologies if Ive caused any offence.

    • I imagine Franco Manca's business dropped off quite a bit when Yard Sale opened (though isn't Yard Sale delivery only?) But in any case, both of those are chains.
    • Thanks. I'll call them shortly as I could get there without the car.  That's good of Sainsburys! We've done the apple pie and tart thing, an ongoing muesli thing and the coleslaw thing - just not sure what effect all the sugars are having on our digestive tracts.
    • One time Sainsbury's delivered 6 bags of apples instead of 6 single apples which I couldn't possibly get through. I phoned Pecan in Peckham to ask if they would accept them despite their website stating no fresh foods. I must have phoned at just the right time as they were happy to accept them. Sainsburys gave me a refund so the donation was courtesy of them. Or you could experiment with all kinds of apple recipes and write a blog about it
    • There's a food bank off Dog Kennel Hill. Albrighton Community Fridge. https://www.albrightoncommunityfridge.org/ I'm sure they would welcome them, but maybe check first, as they don't actually mention fresh fruit on their website? But apples aren't that perishable. Drop off seven days a week 9 - 5. Be warned if you are going by car, parking can be very difficult, easiest if there are two of you so one person can take the food in while the other can move the car if necessary.
