I'm not entirely sure that's a sentiment that will go down well with some Forumites; no, no, no, we just can't have 'outsiders' traipsing up and down LL.

I'm making fun of course!

The landlord (about two years ago - dont know if he is still there) is a massive Celtic fan. When the Old Firm match is on there is usually a decent turn out, with the vast majority being Celtic fans. On a positive note, I have never seen any trouble when I have been there to watch the mighty 'tic.

The toilets do leave a lot to be desired and there are cracks on the wall which really do suggest the Castle has some sort of gravity defying mystical power but it is inside exactly what it looks like from outside - it doesnt pretend to be anythin other than what it is.

It's just that our new friend "whome" reminded me slightly of a couple of other posters with that closing remark...

Good luck with the venture smokie - obviously previous incarnations of the pub have stuggled, and it's in a bit of an awkward location... near a busy-ish junction, with not many other places nearby that you'd bother making a trip to. Is the location right for cocktails and gourmet cuisine? I'm not sure...

Confirmed my suspicions, thought as much seeing the banners on the wall. Think I'll stay clear of that place then, not too keen on listening to their supporters glorify the IRA and launch sectarian bile against any protestant within ear shot.

Blimey, that's some extrapolation. I've been many times and have yet to hear politics even discussed. If they want a disturbing picture of Roy Keane on an Irish flag then good luck to them, but to leap from being Irish to being espousers of sectarian bile in one step?!?!? Cripes.

Now the St Germain in Forest Hill / Catford, that was a scary prospect!!

I have been scared into singing the Irish national Anthem at the Castle - and I'm Irish!

But as Mockney Piers says - that's far from being the same thing as glorifying the IRA - in fact in 7 years I've never heard anything like that in there. Not that I'm there THAT often ....

I've only stood up once, and that was at Croke Park, I was standing anyway and it seemed a bit rude to actually sit down. But never felt inclined to do so in a pub. Sure as hell haven't stood up to that awful dirge of a British anthem, though I have been inclined to have a boogie to the spanish one. Tum tum-te tum . tum-te tum . tum-te tum tum tum tum. da da da-daa ....etc

    • Is there anyone who does face painting who would be available to come to a children’s party next Sunday 25 May from 11-12ish? It’s a Frozen theme- about 10 kids or so. Please get in touch with more details and an idea of price if so. Many thanks
    • Nope that concern predates the Jerk festival.  But I am talking about when I first moved to SE London and some locals complained that the nice music was too loud. Separately some people are still moaning about the Jerk festival,  Felt some comments were (casual) racist, but that is a different subject matter. That day was great,  A victim of its own success. A kin to Fatboy Slim playing a free festival on Brighton beach, tens of thousands went but it took a long long time to clean up.
