The Thai Corner Cafe

Recommended Posts

Don't really think the thai corner cafe needs anyone raving about it but it was an absolute delight to bring my Mum up to check it out a couple of weekends ago. Probably some of the best Thai food I've had outside of Thailand and such lovely staff. Just as good takeaway service too and a ridiculously good price. Worth booking as it's so busy!!!

In my experience (and I have been to Thailand), sadly the Thai Corner Cafe IS the westernised version of Thai food.

It has been very variable since it opened, but I finally stopped going there after I had a dish which tasted like watery marmite :( I would be delighted if it really has improved - have they got a new chef perhaps?

If you want really excellent Thai food locally, the Begging Bowl in Bellenden Road is the place to go, in my opinion. More expensive than the Thai Corner Cafe, but worth every penny.

Sadly I've only been able to afford to go there once, on my partner's birthday :(

I have only been The TCC once. When it first opened..

Was not impressed. Was Very expensive very crowded. virtually sitting on each others laps.

Food was no better that the Supermarket Thai Selection packages.

You know. 12 Thai spring rolls/ 12 Tempura battered king prawns / Thai green/red curry kits.

    • Typically the way 'family run businesses' operate is either to have family members continue the business, or to sell on, either as a site (in this instance) or as a going concern. Either which way this is the way the owners create a 'pension' from the business. The number of suggestions as to alternatives makes me feel that the market for small repairing garages locally may be well served, so selling on the site makes the best financial sense for the owners. It's a sign not of the times but of normal business realities.
    • I agree it's a shame, but it is not a "sign of the times", unless you think that up to now people have never grown older and retired!
