"

This is the first year of a fixed national offer day for primary allocations. It will be the 16th April from this year onward (like March 1st is National Offer day for secondary). If it falls at the weekend, it will be the next working day.

Can't believe I'm here with a nearly reception child already... Remember reading these threads when my boy was weeks old...

Saila, wonder if worth changing the title to Southwark and Lewisham as lots of people will be affected by both boroughs.

I'll be shocked if we don't get our first choice as it's 3-form entry and we live very close by... But you never can tell and it's a very kiddie place near me these days!

  • 2 weeks later...

To my knowledge no schools in the ED area were assigned to have a bulge when the brochure went live last summer. This may change as the number crunching is still on-going. This year, Dulwich Wood (formerly Langbourne) and Bessemer Grange both have their extra intake also Judith Kerr is on the CAF system (it wasn't last year). In the formulation for spaces locally, 60 spaces have been counted for Harris Free School ED. The problem will be that as the location was unknown until recently, the Harris spaces weren't on the CAF system which means that there are likely to be 60 families holding two offers. Funding for those 60 places can't be provided twice, to Harris and to the LA to fund bulge classes. Therefore, there is likely to be a bigger shakedown of places in the area than usual.

Yes, the emails will be sent out at 5pm and letters will arrive the next day. Southwark Admissions will be open that evening. Unfortunately schools are closed for the Easter Holidays. After a fortnight there should be some movement on waiting lists after initial responses from parents eg those who are going into the independent sector or holding Harris ED and another offer.

Local Councillors will be available too to give you assistance.

Good luck everyone

Renata

Dear Colleagues

As in previous years, there will be advice and assistance for parents & carers receiving their child's primary school offer on the 16th April 2014 (An email notification will be sent after 5pm with a letter confirming the offer and relevant information posted out on the same day).

Southwark Parent Partnership and the School Preference Service will operate a drop-in session for parents & carers in the days following the offer to provide impartial advice and discuss their options (please see attached poster).

We will also be able to offer advice through phone and email correspondance if this more viable for some parents & carers (contact details below).

Unfortunately we will not have access to waiting list positions for individual children. Parents wishing to gather this information will have to contact Southwark Admissions Dept from the 17th April 2014 -

Tel: 0207 525 5337 or email: [email protected]

Please advertise all of this information to colleagues and Nursery parents & carers and feel free to contact the School Preference Service (within Parent Partnership) directly should you have a query.

    • It worked. Corbyn did similar although not to the same degree. Momentum had a purge too when Corbyn got in. All his political life he opposed the EU but when it came to the crunch he publicly backed them during the referendum. I believe that was to appease the middle classes that he was appealing to. He messed up big time when wooing the middle classes at Glastonbury whilst ignoring his core working class voters up north. They also happened to be leave voters. He got starstruck and forgot about his politics. Corbynmania was thing, a movement but it was also the making of his downfall. For the many and not the few came back and slapped him right in the face.
    • Nothing to do with the tories overspending whatsoever eh! Blame the last 10/11 years of blatant mismanagement, incompetence and willful deceit on the poor bastards that were left with the fall out of a complete car crash tory government.   One PM after another falling on their sword. Open corruption and piss taking throughout covid and a legacy of huge debt and destruction yet in your view it will be labour's 4 years in power that bankrupts us in 2029.  Another one that must think people are blind and stupid.  Rejoice rejoice. It's a pity he and his fellow clowns were completely annihilated at the ballot box. I mean they were doing so well after all 🙃🙃
    • Where did I say he did a good job? Yup and Corbyn was very close to Len McCluskey and funded by Unite wasn't he...they're all as bad as each other... Labour have to purge their party of the far-left - they're a disaster. Allan Johnson summed it up so well on election night in 2019....
    • Thank you for the detailed advise @trinidad It is definitely damage we are concerned about. I don’t think Evri would agree to pay the bill to fix our gate or letter box if they were to be damaged as a result of their delivery drivers helper. Our doorbell can be heard from outside when rung so we don’t quite believe the aggressive simultaneous door/letter box banging is necessary. It can be quite a shock it is done very aggressively.  I’ll definitely action the steps you’ve kindly provided along with a phone call tomorrow. I do sympathise with the role drivers have and how busy they are, which is why we tried communicating directly with her but sadly we haven’t succeeded
