As long as they have a car park and a drive through so I can drive there from my house.

The kebab shop on the parade of shops opposite The Plough wants to open after 11pm but the council won't let them!

Good guess is that whatever it becomes will be tatty and down market. All the top marque businesses are moving in to the lower end of LL. Look at the Plough and its sorry state and being across the road from Barry House asylum hostel may not be advantageous. The Bombay Bicycle Club is the most up-market business we have up this end.
I must try it again SeanM thanks haven't been there for so long. My memory of it includes going in one evening with my dad who lived in Ireland at the time and us two were the only customers and with three bar staff it still took ages to get served. That doesn't happen in Ireland where even if it's three deep at the bar you'll get served immediately.

Dez - absolutely hear you. I've lived up this end for 8 years and have wanted that pub to be a good "stop in for a quick one after getting off the bus" for most of them. I used to try out the old Plough every 6 months and it was always bad - bad service, bad to non-existent food, bad vibes, bad carpet. Actually scratch that.. scary,life-sapping carpet

Anyway - since the refurb last year it's a different pub completely. The food isn't great (head-office Mitchel-Butler fare) but everything else about it is pretty great. The open-mic nights every month are well worth going along too. If you pop in some night I might even see you there

    • Has anyone had any joy getting refunds for their cancelled kids' swimming lessons? I am constantly just getting a 'computer says no' response from Dulwich Leisure - quite how they think its okay to charge £42.40 per child without a service being given is beyond me! I will try emailing Portia too...
    • Just to clarify, this isn't the same cherry as last year, it's in the corner by the path that runs down to the crossroads of FHR / Colyton / Dunstans. It hasn't been an issue previously because the perimeter wasn't as large... I'm sure it must have been noticed & flagged during the various planning meetings, walkabouts etc and there is an ecological resolution planned that will avoid any damage to the tree. After all, Gala pride themselves on their environmental stance, being "nestled in the park" and everything... 🤦
    • Those branches are going to get chopped...again. All of this shows the central paradox at the heart of Southwark's greening the streets policy. What is the good of planting trees in tarmac if you are simultaneously wrecking large sections of the park and stopping locals using the park? It just does not make sense. Cllr Catherine Rose should be made to answer for Gala conduct, if they are already flouting the terms of their agreement.
