Electrician/plumber/gas engineer needed

I know this has been asked before but can anyone recommend a local electrician and/or a plumber? We are looking for someone to disconnect some appliances and connect new ones. It would be a bonus if they can disconnect a gas hob too. Hoping to find someone who can do it in the next few of days as we've been let down by our usual electrician.

I would recommend http://www.mchow.co.uk as they are reasonably priced and specialize in all aspects of plumbing, heating, gas and electric jobs. Especially David, their gas engineer is very nice and helpful if any advice or expertise needed. They have some useful videos on their webpage.... it's worth to watch some of them
If you are looking for a good, honest plumber I would be happy to propose Nico he is; responsive, reliable and did two (different) emergency jobs within four hours. He did a really good job and I would recommend him highly for plumbing or any handyman work. You can contact him on 07818607583. Charlotte
I've just had Gary Vu install new double power sockets, recess a light switch and replace some front plates on sockets. He also does much bigger jobs but he's local and so happy to do the small ones too. Would highly recommend, gave quote quickly for work and turned up exactly when he said he would. Cleaned up any mess and very nice guy. Can be contacted on 07872 178 044

Chapmaintenance did a great job with re-doing my entire bathroom and kitchen, super quick and very nice bloke. He's also a qualified electrician and a plumber so I didn't have worry about finding anyone else to do the electrics etc.

Main guy is Nick who's local, his number is 07785936875.

    • My bike (a ELOPS 120 step over classic from Decathlon) was stolen from outside The Belham this afternoon. I locked it up while I collected my kids, then the street was so busy that I left it there while I walked them home. Did a few other things at home, came back about 5.30pm and it was gone. Sharing just in case anyone sees it or finds it anywhere - it’s a few years old and the chain is a bit rusty/makes a clicking sound so maybe there’s a slight chance someone would dump it! Really annoying and just a reminder to be really careful with bikes. The picture shows the bike model from the Decathlon website.
    • Thanks, I didn't know that.  People are even more stupid than I thought then, if they are willing to wait hours in A&E for an ingrown toenail. I presume they don't get put at the front of the queue. Why isn't the 111 service more widely advertised? That puts you in touch with a doctor, who will advise on the phone or visit, and if necessary  you will be advised to go to A&E or they will arrange an ambulance to take you.
    • It hasn't devolved. It's in exactly the same state it was when it started.
    • A&E isn't allowed to turn people away at the triage stage, even people with hiccups and ingrown toenails... the kinds of ailments a GP might be able to advise against seeking emergency care for. https://www.england.nhs.uk/2025/12/aes-under-siege-from-hiccups-and-ingrowing-toenails/
