Have you ever wondered:

? What infants know about the world around them?

? How they learn to take their first steps?

? How infants learn to pay attention to some things and not others?

At Goldsmiths InfantLab we study these questions and more! We are located within Goldsmiths College (University of London), New Cross. We study children?s cognitive development, with a particular focus on how infants and children learn to perceive and act on the world around them by combining and interpreting their various sensory inputs to control their actions.

Our studies take the form of age appropriate games. We use a variety of scientific techniques to investigate children?s cognitive development across a broad age range. Visit our facebook page to see JJ one of our PhD students explain one of these methods, and to see photos from recent lab visits.

We recruit infants between 0 and 18 months of age. If you are interested in registering your child, or if you have any questions about the research that we do, then please get in touch with us at [email protected] and we would love to tell you more.

  • 4 weeks later...

We have had two papers published this week tracking the development of tactile perception in infants (http://www.gold.ac.uk/news/homepage-news/ahands-onapproachcouldhelpbabiesdevelopspatialawareness.php) and children (bit.ly/1oFHEA8).

Thank you so much to all the infants, children and parents who made this research possible.

If you are interested in helping us with future research then get in touch to find out more ([email protected]).

    • F Fox Angels Foundation will send a local person out if you message them on Facebook. They respond very quickly. They have come out at at least twice to help in Ulverscroft Road, once to take a very ill  fox in my garden to the vet,  and once to safely remove a fox from a neighbour's house. Obviously they need to know the fox's current location!
    • There's a ?new Radio 4 short documentary programme, The Cat Killer Detectives, that might be of interest to some. It talks to the couple who ran SNARL, and provides something of their account of how the project began, developed and ended, and the effect it had on their lives then and subsequently.   https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m002j5nr
