My daughter is staying at a hotel near gatwick as she is due to fly out on holiday early in the morning. Whilst having dinner someone has broken into their room and stolen their bags containing their pasports and tickets. All their luggage has been checked in at the airport already.

Can anyone give me some advice as to what to do re their passports etc????

I know the passport office issue same day emergency passports, but they do cost an awful lot and I am afraid I doubt they will get them in time for the early morning flight, they also involve a lot of running around gathering identification, I had to run around like a nutter when I suddenly realised, two days before my son was due to fly out, his passport had expired. No chance they were covered by insurance is there? perhaps they could rebook for another week? How awful and what an awful start to someone's holidays, they must be heartbroken. I think you may find the airport to be quite sympathetic, I hope they are and that they don't have too much trouble getting their luggage back, what a nightmare.

Nightmare .How awful for you all. Have copied below from goernment site, the address of which is-.

You'll see that they need a crime ref nos from the police.

There's a 24 hour helpline nos to phone 0300 200 0000 .

Good luck.

Report a lost or stolen passportYou must report the loss or theft of your passport as soon as possible to the appropriate authorities. To reduce the possibility of anyone else using your passport or identity, you will need to fill in and sign a lost or stolen declaration form and return to us.

All cases of theft must also be reported to the local police, as the crime reference details must be inserted in the relevant section of the form.

    • Hello everyone, We have lost our wonderful moggie, Cookie.  She's been missing for over a week now and was lost around the back of our house on rail track land around Croxted Road/Turney Road junction. Please do keep an eye out for her and if you see her please let us know urgently as she isn't familiar with the area at all, we are very worried.  She has a microchip (with my brother's contact details) She's black with ginger/brown markings, very distinctive. If you have had sightings of her or seen her at anytime please let do let me know, Henna 07941 047094 If you could post on your local/street groups too, I'd be very grateful. Thank you!
