Recommended: Mobile wedding hair and make-up

Recommended Posts

I'd like to reccommend Margaret Balfe, who did the hair for my bridesmaids a couple of weeks ago.

She was really reasonable (unlike many charging a fortune for some simple tousling of hair!)and was really professional. She agreed to blow-dry my mum's hair on the day without any fuss and even though my friends weren't available for a trial, the results were absolutely perfect and even better than I'd hoped.

She is based in West Norwood. I believe she also does general mobile hairdressing and tanning treatments. Can't recommend her enough, she was so reasonable and lovely to have around the morning of my wedding. See picture attached for the results!

hi

I would like to add my recommendation for Margaret. She was able to give me a great blow dry at very short notice at my home. We got to talking about my colour and I tried her out last month and she has done a really thorough job - I have used Toni & Guy for years but was getting more and more disillusioned - not only is Margaret cheaper but she actually listened to what I wanted (I know this barnet better than anyone!) and the results were great.

She is also a lovely person and very nice to have in your house.

I would highly recommend Jess who gave me a free trial at home, and followed exactly the picture I gave her for what I wanted. She got it up in 40 mins in the trial and on the day. It stayed up all day. She did all 5 of my bridemaids beautifully as well in under 4 hours. Really reasonable as well compared to some others.

Her number is 07710264000

    • But all those examples sell a wide variety of things,  and mostly they are well spread out along Lordship Lane. These two shops both sell one very specific thing, albeit in different flavours, and are just across the road from each other. I don't think you can compare the distribution of shops in Roman times to the distribution of shops in Lordship Lane in the twenty first century. Well, you can, but it doesn't feel very appropriate. Haa anybody asked the first shop how they feel? Are they happy about the "healthy competition" ?

Here incidentally are some snippets from their annual reports, at https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/02495645/filing-history. 2022: " during the period we opened 41 stores and closed 43 loss-making/under-performing stores.  At the period-end we were trading from 821 stores in the UK, IoM and ROI. ... "We renogotiated 82 leases in the year, saving on average 45% versus the prior lease agreement..." 2023: "We also continued to improve our market footprint through sourcing better store locations, opening 53 and closing 51 stores during the year." 2024:  "The ex-Wilco stores acquired in the prior year have formed a core part of this strategy to expand our store network.  We favour quality over quantity and during the period we opened 84 stores and closed 71 loss-making/under-performing ones."
    • Ha! After I posted this, I thought of lots more examples. Screwfix and the hardware store? Mrs Robinson and Jumping Bean? Chemists, plant shops, hairdressers...  the list goes on... it's good to have healthy competition  Ooooh! Two cheese shops
