How to create a forum

Hi there,

I used to live in East Dulwich and have really enjoyed using this forum.

Nearly 2 years ago I moved to another area and am keen to set up a forum like this there.

How would I get started to do that?

find a host, find some forum software, load it up, hand out postcards at the local fair, persuade local reprobates to waste time at work!

That sums it up, but I'll try and add a bit more detail when I have time. I'll tell you though it's the people who make it what it is. Why do you think it works and is enjoyable?
