Peckham GC - I have to disagree - I always like to see what I'm getting (ok, in my imagination granted) before committing myself!

*Bob* - you're just saying that because your one pack is letting you down!

And Hammerspanner - yes Johhny can come lately round my gaff any day.

giggirl, would the words "a ring a ding ding" be inappropriate here?

on the subject of terrible sexism in advertising, isn't it at London Bridge where there's a picture of a man and a woman, and she appears to be looking at his groin and the strapline is something along the lines of "wish you had a bigger package" - i think it's something to do with banking

The D&G advert is nice and very eye-catching but on closer inspection they're all a bit BOBFOC.

Check out Leandro Becker on Google - now that's much more up my (2nd use of this expression while posting this evening, but feck it) boulevard!

There's a folk singer called Seth Lakeman that I wouldn't chuck out of bed either!

    • Who was Diana Rayworth, when 'resting from acting'. Her successful career was very sadly cut short following a devastating accident.
    • thanks Jenijenjen and all - yes, i remember walking or taking the bus from the elephant (where i was working) to Camberwell to get there.  I think Tim - who's still at Franklin's -  was there in those days, and the woman who ran the cafe!  Other food places that i remember fondly are the ones in Neal's Yard (with the Hunkin sculpture that you could put a coin in ) and the basement lunch place at the Tottenham Court Road junction with Hanway Street...
    • Did you try the emergency number posted above? It mentions lift breakdowns over the festive period outside the advertised  times. Hope you got it sorted x
    • People working in shops should not be "attempting to do the bill in their head." Nor if questioned should they be  trying to "get to an agreeable number." They should be actually (not trying to) getting to the correct number. I'm afraid in many cases it is clearly more than incorrect arithmetic. One New Year's Eve in a restaurant (not in East Dulwich but quite near it) two of us were charged for thirty poppadoms. We were quite merry when the bill came, but not so merry as to not notice something amiss. Unfortunately we have had similar things happen in a well established East Dulwich restaurant we no longer use. There is also a shop in East Dulwich which is open late at night. It used not to display prices on its goods (that may have changed). On querying the bill, we several times found a mistake had been made. Once we were charged twice for the same goods. There is a limit to how many times you can accept a "mistake".  There is also a limit to how many times you can accept the "friendly" sweet talking after it.
