Dentist recommendations please

I have just moved to ED and I'm looking for a good dentist that accepts NHS patients.


I'm very anxious about going but definitely need to.


Looking for somewhere where the staff are friendly with a clean waiting room (been in some manky eaiting rooms in the past and it didn't help the anxiety). Oh, and a lovely dentist would be fab.


I know that there are lots of threads out there but I would really like to get a picture of what the surgeries are like now.


Have moved practically opposite East Dulwich Dental Centre so any opinions on that one would be ace.

I have been to Townley Road Dental this week as a first time patient of theirs. I had 1 filling from the dentist and also a full clean and polish from the hygienist.


I can't fault them at all. Very professional and also explain what they are doing each step of the way. By far the best Dentist I have been to.

I've just been to North Cross Road (Smile surgery) and had a second check-up. I haven't received any treatment there do far except a clean but am going back for a filling in a week so can update you then. Am happy so far. Does anyone else have views on this surgery? The dentist there is tackling a decaying tooth which three other dentists have said to ignore.

Hate visiting the dentist but I would recommend Smile (North Cross Road). I went to Grace and she was brilliant. I had two fillings (one was a replacement). I found several staff at the Dulwich Dental Clinic to be rude and the clinic is quite impersonal. All staff at Smile were very pleasant and I felt comfortable and welcome.

      I'd also like to highly recommend Niko. He just replaced the extraction fan in our bathroom, having previously installed a new tap for us. Fast, professional and a really great guy.

      Agree with this. He's stood down from his role in Cabinet having left the Party, but he was elected as a representative of all the constituents in his ward and logic suggests that he should continue to represent them as a councillor for his remaining 3 months. He might wish to stand again, as a Green, in that ward (if he's chosen) and hope that personal loyalty to him might transfer, but that's now the call of his (new) party and him. He will have to balance that with a view about how many of his Labour supporters will feel sufficiently betrayed to continue to support Labour. I suspect, I may be wrong, that he will not have a cabinet position open to him after May (unless the Greens sweep in locally) so presumably he will have to consider his next career move, and whether that's back to full-time primary teaching.
