Recommendation for a great, local mortgage broker

I just want to quickly recommend my mortgage broker on here - Chris Taylor, from www.thelondonmortgagebrokers.co.uk.

He lives in East Dulwich and used to do the mortgages for Hamptons estate agents in North Dulwich.

He has arranged several mortgages for myself and my friends (some of them quite involved) in a short timescale over the last few years. He knows the area really well and can visit your house to talk through options without any hard sell.

He's the most efficient, thorough and reliable broker my partner and I have used.

I highly recommend him if you're considering buying in the area or around London. He can be contacted on 07946 405415.

I would like to second this recommendation. Chris just helped us get a mortgage and gave really sound, sensible advice meaning we got a very good fixed rate sorted in a short amount of time. He's very friendly and approachable - totally jargon free. I would definitely use him again.

I have nothing but praise for Chris at the LMB:

He can come to your house, if you live locally. That meant he could sit at our kitchen table, and ask us for documents and we could go and get them, or print off statements, saving tons of time and hassle.

He sent through three options based on his chat with us, and got us a really good rate, with the kind of risk we are comfortable with.

He then switched us to a lower rate with the same lender when it became available, on his own initiative.

When I emailed in a panic because our offer was expiring, he arranged an extension for us even though he happened to be on holiday at the time.

He has just arranged a second extension for us, because our sale/purchase really is taking a long time (such a relief to know he's got it in hand).

He's a really nice guy, answers emails quickly, offers sound advice, and provides a really good, personal service.

I would go straight to Chris the next time we needed a mortgage, no hesitation. He's been brilliant, especially considering our move hasn't turned out to be straightforward.

Another strong recommendation for Chris from us. We found his details on here and very glad we did! We've recently completed on a very messy and long drawn out purchase and couldn't have completed without Chris's help. We all expected a simple transaction as we were planning on selling our flat and porting the mortgage to the new property with a top-up. We were committed to the lender, so it was all supposed to be very straight forward.

Due to the vendor's situation, we ended up having to complete on our sale and purchase at different times, whilst renting the property we were going to buy. Chris was very calm through the whole process and was always clear with us as to what our options were. He must have some excellent contacts within the various banks, as he was able to sort things out very quickly and efficiently. He was also in regular contact with our solicitor which was great as it meant we were all on the same page.

He's not 'salesy' like a lot of other brokers, especially the ones connected to the EA's, just happy to talk through options in simple terms and let you make the decisions.

Chris is local and is happy to come to your house to discuss options, which is also a big plus.

I would also like to add my endorsement for Chris Taylor. I cannot believe how stress free the whole process was.

As others have said, Chris was flexible, efficient and extremely quick to come back with a selection of offers which he discussed clearly. Getting a mortgage has never been as smooth as this.

I would certainly recommend him and have already given his details to others.

Another recommendation for Chris at from www.thelondonmortgagebrokers.co.uk.

He was quick and efficient and has experience dealing with contractors rather than just those on PAYE. We had an issue with our lender (whose IT function seemed to have totally failed at one point!) which ending up with Chris taking his laptop skiing so he could continue to chase on our behalf.

Adding to the recommendations for Chris at The London Mortgage Brokers. My remortgage & lease renewal were far more complicated than I could have imagined, with all sorts of delays, and Chris was one step ahead the whole way - anticipating problems before they'd happened, and arranging the renewal of the mortgage offer without my even having to ask.

He's efficient, quick to reply, and found me a good deal when I couldn't find one myself online because of my short lease. And he was patient throughout all the delays (like the posters above, he even contacted me from his holiday).

Would use him again without hesitation.

    • Thanks all, our hope was (despite the diminishing estate) he would get on with it.  Progress is glacial, it's been two years since probate was granted, that's two cold and damp winters with no heating, and not surprisingly a pipe burst. He's blames the issues on the estate agent, who separately had a dispute with him, he had a wobbly when one of the beneficiaries spoke to the estate agent.  Separately he said it was the family's fault for letting the property get into a poor condition.  It was dated, but certainly not in poor condition. There are two five star reviews on Google, and five one star: ** WARNING** This solicitor firm has to be one of the worst I have encountered. The solicitor is prehistoric in his practices and will carry out work at his own snails pace, the fax machine he uses gets turned off at 2 pm and its near impossible to get him on the phone. STAY AWAY, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED, check the solicitors ombudsman, this firm has previous bad practice recorded.   Disgusting under no circumstances use this solicitor. For over 10 years he has not carried out the terms of a Will he has not re-invested money but has retained it.  He writes letters which are pure "Flannel" excuses for doing nothing.  You have been warned   shocking experience, delayed the whole process, told other side solicitors to not contact him as he feels pressured etc. never use.   Not fit for 21st century. No website, no email address, no electronic transfer. Very slow, very little communication.   Was not a pleasant experience dealing with this firm
