clairej313
A friend of mine in Herne Hill recently lost her home of 32 years to a dreadful house fire. All her irreplaceable possessions were lost along with 70% of the house. Seems it was her TV on standby that had overheated and caught fire. So just reminding everyone to not leave them on standby. I had a very professional guy round the other day putting in hard wired interlinked alarms very reasonable ?85 per alarm. For anyone else interested his number is 07943 548 586 done the whole house in half a day. Remember to test them once a week. Otta
You may be right alice, but to be fair, a mate of mine had to jump out of a 2nd floor window with his baby daughter because his PC caught fire whilst on standby, so it is a genuine possibility. clairej313
It's not fake! It was the same thing with the Laknall House fire in Camberwell, 6 people died in the fire. That was a faulty Tv. People don't realise how dangerous it can be to leave your appliances on standby. Lowlander
Does this professional person have a name? Is he accredited and fully insured? Why post just a mobile number and nothing else?Without these details sounds like an advert. For someone dodgy. Especially as you're a new member. adonirum
In fact London Fire Brigade will do a full "Home Fire Safety Check" as part of installing smoke alarms, all free and done by experienced professionals. Contact your local fire station. Don't pay anybody when you can get it done for free effectively from council taxes you have already paid !!! jctg
?85 per alarm is not "very reasonable". Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/45674-house-fire/#findComment-756272 Share on other sites
LadyNorwood
jctg Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> ?85 per alarm is not "very reasonable".Hard wired alarms cost about ?25 each, so ?60 to install each one is a bit steep (if he did the whole house in half a day he's raking it in).... Never heard anything about a recent house fire in HH... Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/45674-house-fire/#findComment-756274 Share on other sites
