Not quite as simple as that. We had an accident and even got the driver details but they were worthless as we did bit have his policy number - even though we shared the same insurers. The claim is still not settles since september because he never replied to the insurance company letters. He admitted at the time that it was his fault (did not give way at a junction)

My parents got hit in a supermarket carpark a couple of months ago, it was just a small bump. The driver just drove off. Stupidly for him, it was in front of CCTV, the supermarket had the tape. My parents got the police involved and they took it seriously as it was classified as leaving the scene of an accident.

The attitude of the other person sucks, and if there was sufficient force to cause a scratch and you felt the impact then she must have known too.

    • As the days shorten having evening fireworks for e.g. birthday parties becomes more realistic, the idea that fireworks is only about Guy Fawkes day or New Year's Eve is not a rule. I personally do not like fireworks, but other do, and I would see no reason to stop other's pleasure. I am sure the local Puritans will object, and there are issues about disturbing wild life with unexpected noise. But I'm in favour of simple pleasures. And many do like fireworks.

    • Most churches rent out halls for children's' parties but rarely adult parties, Christ Church only does afternoon parties,   The East Dulwich Community centre hires out halls to 9 pm only and all music needs to be on a sound restrictor as is in a residential area. St Johns with St Clements have a small hall but not sure if they allow adult parties. Nunhead Green has a newish community centre with a couple of different size halls. Most places seem to charge around £40 ph  with a deposit of £100/200 (returned if no damage or excess cleaning needed.
