I am a new comer (well new-ish) to the forum, and wondered if you have tried the Montpelier (same road as the Wishing Well but in my view a much nicer pub)... it's a good drinking pub and a good food pub and a good large screen pub (for those who like to watch a bit of sport) so a 3 in one type of pub!!! or what about the Gowlett? who goes to EDF drinks, is it s 'blokes' thing? or do women go too?

ps how was the 'Wish' for you all?

Hey charliechalie, boys and girls both go the these drinks and also to the other events that happens through this forum, such as the curry club. There are photos from the drinks on the flickr website provided by the brilliant AndrewDBlack.

I reckon most of these guys are still recovering in bed from hangover so you may to wait for them to get here.

I don't think the Montpelier has been 'done' yet but i could be wrong.:)

So how does an EDFDrinks newbie recognise the group? Do you all wear carnations? Have some sort of sign? Peer about for people who look like they might be local forumites?

Nothing worse than sidling up to people asking if they're from such-and-such and having them look at you like you're an alien.

Tis true eliz and we have all had to do it at some point - I remember how nervous I was. Some tips

Most of the faces you see on the flickr groups that get posted in the drinks threads appear most times - so you should be able to spot at least one of them

If you arrive after 9pm it is probable that we are the largest group in the pub as well

PM a poster you think is going and like the sound of - I have given my mobile for people to text in case they turn up and want to text to say "who are you"?

oops - I missed the sport ref in the OP - sorry lard. But you are still correct - it's no place to watch sport for that very reason. A coupl eof us have tried to talk to the manager about it - I think given that he can't have both music and sport concurrently he is reluctant to just have sport.. shame because it would be a good spot otherwise

It seems strange for them to pay for the sky and setanta subscription, buy a big screen and then not play it properly.

It almost needs two rooms..the front which is the restauranty bit and a comfier back telly room. Then it could be a 3-in-1 type place as per the opening poster says. It's big enough to be able to do that.

That and more artwork/stuff in it. The MOR music doesn't half echo off the bare walls in there.

    • Hi  After a surprising split I find myself trying to furnish a home. If you gave anything that you don't want that may help I'd be so so so grateful if you could let me know please.  Thank you so much
    • Hallo As far as I know  info you have quoted is wrong.  You can phone for an appointment although I have always found it easier to do online. Go to their website for info on how to book appointments Any requests I have made have been reviewed and answered by a GP within 4 hours
    • Nadia did a great job tidying up my very very overgrown yard. (See the before and after photos). I live in New Zealand and my tenants said a neighbour has been complaining about the out of control ivy. Nadia was easy to contact so over WhatsApp, managed to liaise between me and my tenants. Her quote was reasonable for the amount of work that needed doing, and the end result is great! She sent photos throughout so I could track progress. Would highly recommend her to others.
    • My car was stolen a few months back from my driveway but I had a tracker and found it in a private car park in Lavender Hill close to the police station. I was lucky. The thieves hide it up against that eventuality. High spec cars are targeted I'm afraid. The way it was stolen required the thieves to wire in their own computer accessing a front light (which had had a metal sheet welded across which they prised off). They had searched for a tracker but not found it. They also had to cut away a steering wheel lock. They had to come well tooled up and briefed to do what they did. Beating them off is non trivial. As I said, them not finding my tracker was just lucky.
