Advice to any landlords/homeowners: DO NOT USE Ludlow Thompson

About 8yrs ago I asked them to rent out a house I own (I didn't use them in the end)since then they have bombarded me with txts, emails and phone calls: 'do you still want to rent your house.'

In the begining I rang them (numerous times) and asked them not to contact me and to remove me from their list. Every time they agreed and then a couple of months later another phone call. Eventually I went into the office and asked the person who called me to stop and remove me from their list. They agreed again.

More phone calls, more txt's more emails......I went into the office to speak to the manager who promised I would not hear from them again. This week another email grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Apart from my frustration about the constant unwanted contact I would like to say to LT 'BIG MISTAKE' I have a number of properties in E. Dulwich to rent and I will NEVER use your company again.

I could have written this post myself! I had exactly the same experience; no other estate agency still contacts me, but Ludlows regularly do despite me asking to be removed from their lists numerous times. Seriously, don't ever register with them unless you want constant harrassment and rubbish service. I had a couple of viewings where their agent never even turned up!

I wonder how they are still in business - same story for us. We bought a property with them back in 2010 to live in, (which they knew). A year after the purchase they started calling me, checking if we were renting it out. I started politely telling them no, we were living in it and had no intention to let it. However they continued calling and didn't listen when I asked to be removed from their database. However I eventually got so fed up I thought I'd try telling them we no longer owned the property - which actually (probably unsurprisingly) worked a treat!!

But likewise, following my experience I would never use Ludlow for buying or selling. Unfortunately the cold calling must work on some people otherwise why would they carry on...

we got our (rented flat) through them - ridiculous fees and appalling service. Told me I was 'insisting on being difficult' when asking for an updated document before paying extra deposit money (they did it wrong on the day, this extra money was only ever discussed and agreed to on the phone). We did all the chasing. We had no idea whether we had passed referencing etc as no-one would tell us, despite us ringing them all the time.

Trouble is, the agent who we viewed with was fine, then moved to another office. The service nosedived after we paid the ?500 holding money - no escape without losing money then.

    • Do we still get 50+ outdoor community events per year? All the ones round here seem to have been cancelled, like the Christmas Cracker and the summer equivalent and the Small Business Saturday event etc.  Even on the Southwark Presents page the only events in East Dulwich in the foreseeable future are non-council events organised by other people. https://www.southwark.gov.uk/southwark-presents?event_price=All&localgov_event_locality[0]=239&date_min=&date_max=&search=&page=2
