Ok I know I'm planning very far in advance but I need a holiday to look forward to! We will have two boys, both just shy of 4 & 2 respectively. We want a pool with a beach close by and a nice relaxed environment. Short haul better for us, where would you recommend, where have you been to recently?

Great thanks, that sounds great - anybody else with other options?

Anybody just come back from a brilliant holiday?

We went to Azur hotel in Cirali, Turkey in June and I would 100% recommend it, the entire area was extremely child friendly, great pool & beach 5 mins - both husband and son want to go back but I think there must be other places similar - please give me some inspiration though!!

We went to Insotel Punta Prima (the Prestige section) in Menorca via Sovereign in June of this year with a 4 year old and 1 year old.

Perfect weather, large apartment style rooms but with half board (food was excellent)....Prestige section has its own pool including a small kids part (so all the under 4s played together). 5 mins walk to the beach with a few restaurants - 2 ish hour flight with 30 mins transfer.

We had a great relaxing time. It's linked to a much bigger hotel but the Prestige section is worth paying the extra

Just come back from Almyrida, Western Crete (40 mins from Chania). Absolutely stunning area. Great for families, relatively quiet and only lightly developed. We got a villa 700m from beach which was a good distance for us (older children who can easily walk that distance). Beach was perfect for young children. Tourists were a mix of Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, French and Greek with a smaller number of British than many other resorts but all shops and tavernas spoke excellent English. Would highly recommend it.
How funny Indiana, we were at the Insotel Punta Prima in Menorca in June as well ! We have a 3 year-old and a 1 year/old and we had a great time. We also went last year and had a great time too. We were in the main part of the resort and it was absolutely fine. Our eldest loved spending time at the kids' club, the staff were just amazing. We are hoping to go back there next June before our daughter starts school !

    • I know people won’t have any sympathy but the SEND challenge was brought up when taxing parents who have opted for independent school to meet a child’s SEND needs. Funding crisis is getting worse and the VAT on Education pushed children out of independent schools, now their SEND needs are to be met by the state.
    • I completely agree with you - and last night was really terrible where I am. Between midnight and 1am was the worst, where it genuinely felt like a war zone. I had to run out of my house to try and stop a grown man setting them off in open space right by our front doors. In response he went to throw a half lit one at me and then seemed to think better of it. I am so sad at how bad the situation has got here and how selfish people are. Fireworks are bad for the environment and for pets and wildlife, as well as just being unnecessary noise for people too. I have sent an email today to Helen Hayes, which I have done previously on this issue. Would advise anyone to write to your MP to do the same, and to ask them to engage with the debates scheduled for 19 Jan.
    • And they started long before midnight!
