We at French and Sashey repair and replace Timber Windows and Doors. We Draughtproof sash windows, casement windows, front doors and french doors plus also offer painting as a separate service. We have a mobile workshop and apart from being fitted with onboard generator and solar panels, we make direct replacements on-site from within it as needed.

I wouldn't recommend the Sash Guy. We had one window redone with double glazed sashes and had to get him back 3 times to refit it, either because he had left gaps that were so big I could push my finger outside, or it was too tight to open. I wasn't impressed with the sashes that were incredibly soft and fresh wood and I don't expect it to last. The window was primed before we received it, but he hadn't knotted any of the knots, so those are already showing through the painted window (Dulux weathershield). The glazing is poor and you can see plenty of dust inside the double glazed units. The muntin isn't fixed to the window (it is a single pane per sash, not two) and is already warping and coming away from the glass. He used excessive amounts of caulking, some of which were spread around the window and some furniture and it took a lot of work to get the the windows in a state where I could finish painting them. I definitely wouldn't use him again.

    • Couldn't agree more with these great reviews for Paul and his colleague Damian. We had an issue in which our earth and live wires had been installed the wrong way and Damian fixed it quicky and for a really reasonable price. Would definitely use again
    • I had this problem. The only way I could resolve it was by phoning the number of the letter. I was set up over the phone having already registered for an account. The instructions on the letter are not correct as a code needs to be inputted. I do now have my permit.
    • A friend of mine was into "skill swap" about 40 years ago. It wasn't within an organised scheme, she just offered services like help with painting in exchange for services received. She upset some people as they carried out their services for a living, I.e. for money. An organised scheme sounds much better.
    • Gosh, that is a blast from the past.  Friends in York were into this, he was an accountant and had things like decorating done in exchange.  Not sure if it was equivalent in terms of hours, and I recall HMRC being interested as it was a way of tax avoidance.   A link for a London wide scheme but have no idea of its popularity: https://www.londonwide.letslink.org/members/index.php
